Loph is Flowering!!! * 1
    #22135085 - 08/24/15 11:27 AM (8 years, 5 months ago)

A few months ago I lost a loph due to rot (which was probably the result of over watering). It is very disheartening to lose a cactus, because conventional wisdom says you have to be a special kind of asshole to fuck up cactus cultivation. Since then I've been watering only when my lophs feel dehydrated. I water from the bottom, also.

Just he other day I noticed this little guy popping up. It is flowering! Maybe I'll be able to replace the one I lost

I love it. Could it be 100% rock? :teehee:

Are you referring to the soil? I just put a bit of gravel and a couple red rocks on top to make it look nice. I don't like the look of perlite-filled soil. It's cactus mix, sand, and perlite, I believe.

Definitely go easy on the watering if there's perlite in the soil.
The flower looks good man. I love it when mine flowers. Show off a picture once it's out in full bloom.

Will these self pollinate and seed or do you need a few?

Most L. williamsii are self fertile, but can benefit from a tickle to encourage pollination in the absence of a breeze or bugs. Expect 3-10 seeds perhaps. Cross pollinating can increase seed count.
