Phish isn't a bad band, I just think they are overrated and their ticket prices are ridiculous. I would see them if their tickets were $20, which IMO is what they are worth. The fact that a lot of my friends pay $200-300 to see them on NYE pisses me off enough to where I don't even make fun of them for it.

i'd rather see your mom beat OFF your dad. God damn everything nowadays is overpriced. tribute bands have $40-50 tickets, and almost every original group is $75+. I pay $50 a piece for primus tix for next month.. only guy I've seen repeatedly who doesn't rape his fanbase is Jello Biafra from the dead kennedys. charges $12 a head and doesn't play anything bigger than 200 max capacity clubs - he's a cool dude.

This is my relative take on Dave Matthews It's just so MEH I am in essence a jazz fan before most genres blues, classic R&B, yada yada
what's a 'dave mathews'?
typically i only listen to late 60's early 70's blues/jam stuff, of which there is tons and tons of great stuff that isn't super famous like floyd/zep, etc.. i don't like anything by the dead after blues for allah ~ i'm picky with my jam rock!
It's laughable to me that you think "Floyd/Zep" is Blues/Jam or Jam/rock I like Floyd and I like Zep but come on man I was listening to that in 1989 when I was 10 What about real blues? Otis Rush, Muddy Waters, Hound Dog Taylor, Robert Johnson, Howlin' Wolf, Bobby Blue Bland, BB King, Albert King, Pharoah Sanders?

I seriously don't even know what to say to something like what you just said. Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin are pinnacle BLUES ROCK bands, and both did long extended blues rock jams which basically became jam rock, the Dead and Velvet Underground were both doing it at the time as well albeit a bit earlier, along with many other bands of the age. Blues rock is the foundation of jam music, just like BLUES artists like you mentioned were the basis of BLUES ROCK, that people like Cream/Hendrix/etc. popularized. Every white rock band in the 60's was a BLUES ROCK band you dork, since they took the acoustic and softer electric blues and amplified the shit out of it and thus blues rock was essentially born, David Gilmour and Jimmy Page absolutely played some good blues rock AND some good blues...
I not once said anything about "real blues", I said BLUES/JAM ROCK you moran. Muddy Waters didn't go on too many 15 minute explorative guitar solo's during his songs.
I've played guitar for nearly 10 years, and own every album by every person you just mentioned you stinky chode. Each person you mentioned also was influenced by earlier blues players, but I'm not gonna make a list because I don't care. I've even SEEN BB King and many other "real blues" players live, many times. Besides all that, everyone you mentioned perhaps were electric blues players, but the British Invasion is essentially what popularized BLUES ROCK, which is different, and I like both.

I doubt you'll find a bigger blues fan then myself . It's something I'm passionate about - I listen to all blues from the 1910's to the 2010's, though somewhere in the middle is where I think the best stuff came from.
I just couldn't believe you said Zep/Floyd weren't blues/rock bands and had to call you a stinky chode... Zep's entire 1st LP is covers of Willie Dixon and other blues songs, and everything bluesy by Floyd in their early days was standard 12 bar electric blues stuff. And besides that, the point I was making is that they were very popular examples of Blues Rock - I was saying I like them but mostly a lot of other not as famous stuff as well in my post you quoted.
A good one by Floyd you may have not heard:

I've never heard of Jewel Box 14, and have no idea at what age I heard most songs , that's a cool talent you have being able to remember that.
We're probably on the same team aka the good guitar music team?

I looked it up Actually called Jewel Box 4 Being rare pink Floyd and totally different style than most well known Floyd, The album stood out to me Syd Barrett was still around for most of those recordings I remember being 14 because my brother had a Chevelle then that we used to cruise in listening to that My friend Brian gave me a copy of that record around that time Side note- a couple of years later my brother came into a copy of the movie "More" I got a copy of the soundtrack soon afterward It's also somewhat rare as far as Pink Floyd discography goes

What sucked me in was the stuff off of Round Room and Story of the Ghost, followed by Rift. As for particular songs I first warmed to: -Round Room, Seven Below, All of These Dreams, Meat and Roggae were all ones I liked straight away

Oh ok I just looked it up, I've heard all of those - they have so many random damn 'sets'. More has a couple good songs. I have all the Jewl Box 4 stuff on a double LP called "Complete BBC sessions 67-68".

sorry semi thread jack
