Does mushroom tea retain potency longer than fruits will?

Last night I tripped with a friend on 4 gs of mushrooms I bought several weeks ago. As soon as we started eating them my friend noted that they tasted very stale - I've only been keeping these in a ziploc in a box the whole time I've had them, my first mistake. The 4gs resulted in great color filters over my world, patterns esp. In the grass and things of that sort. Not really any breathing.
About 2-2 1/2 hours after initial dose I ate 2 grams of some that I just bought the other day and things just blasted off, almost everything had a surreal, almost cartoon look to it.
So now that I'm assuming my older bag of mushrooms has lost quite some potency can I make them into a tea to keep then from losing anymore? Or would it just be as good for me to put them into something airtight which I should have in the first place?
The new bag that I have I'm just keeping in a tupperware tub, is this a sufficient airtight container to keep them in?

Get a FoodSaver for vacuum sealing fully dried fruits.

I read storing things in plastic bags isn't the best because air seeps in over time

I've never taken any really old shrooms, I have drank some really old tea that I put in "dose sizes" in small mason jars. After many months (maybe even approaching a year) of being frozen, I didn't notice any appreciable loss of potency. I have no idea how long it takes for dried shrooms to have a noticeable loss of potency though.

I stored mine like this:
Just put them in a mason jar with a desiccant or 2 in there

Not even bagged with a ziplock, just straight up put them in the jar
No noticeable potency loss a full year later

Idk probably. Never kept any longer than about 6 months or so.
Maybe try making potent tea and then freezing measured doses in ice trays. Not sure how long it would last frozen like that, but it's a cool idea to try.

Is it pointless to put a desiccant package as shown above in a bag thats vacuum sealed? Or is that pointless because its already vacuum sealed?

Nothing is ever prefectly vacuum tight. Air/moisture will get in. All it would do is greatly prolong the duration they could last.
Pointless? No. "An absolute answer?" no.

So you would put a desiccant package in vacuum sealed bag if you could?

How is a mason jar better than vacuum sealed bags?

I just put them all in a jar, new and old ones, but I don't have a desiccant pack so I'll have to get one

Even if the plastic is vacuum sealed via a foodsaver??

You can probably use the vacuum sealer to seal the mason jar too.
IME those vacuum sealers aren't as good as they're advertised. I would routinely get small leaks in them that would only become apparent after a couple weeks had passed or something. Also IME mason jars stay sealed once they have a proper vacuum, indefinitely.

I threw all my shrooms in a salsa jar, so it doesn't have a 2 part lid. I don't know if that makes a difference or not

Over very long periods it might. If you're just eating them all within a month or two or something, I don't imagine they're going to degrade much. I didn't vacuum seal my shrooms and always kept them in a jar. I never had potency issues.

It wasnt just the potency lost that bothered me but they were just so damn stale. I usually enjoy the taste of mushrooms and they tasted good when I first got them but they tasted awful the other day
