For those in Colorado interested in mycology this event may have a good deal to offer, and though this is clearly not a psychedelic mushroom event, it can provide valuable mycological information to those interested.
I'm not sure if I'm going, but it seemed interesting enough to post here...
INFORMATION:
A two-day mushroom seminar with classroom lectures and mountain forays.
The seminar starts on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 9:00 a.m. at the American Legion Hall, 338 N. Railroad Street, Buena Vista, colorado. Check in between 8:30 and 9:00. Mushroom expert Ellen Jacobson and other members of the Colorado Mycological Society will present slides, display tables, handouts and information on locating and identifying mushrooms. In the afternoon, attendees will carpool to the local mountains to go on mushroom forays.
After the foray, everyone will gather to compare and identify the mushrooms they have collected, followed by a wine-cheese reception at the historic Turner Farm, 829 W. Main.
The festival will continue on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. There will again be forays into the mountains to find mushrooms. Then, participants return to the Legion Hall for more identification, question-and-answers session, and a light lunch of quick mushroom-based snacks and pizza.
What to Bring: Hiking boots pocket knife or mushroom knife water and snacks for the forays bug spray camera hat, sun protection a collection basket, loupe, or mushroom guide if you have them.
Registration is limited, please call for availability.
No refunds after August 21, 2015.
For more information, call 719-395-8458.

Hmmm... 2 hours, 15 minutes away from me. May still be worth it. Though, I wish it wasn't $90 to get in.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I'm going, but anybody interested in learning the local fungi as well as mycology as a whole, as well as lectures from experts and guided mushroom hunting, could really get something out of this event.

Conocybe cyanopus
Gymnopilus junonius
Panaeolus castaneifolius
Panaeolus cinctulus
Pluteus salicinus
*amanita muscaria*
These are the active species in colorado (if I'm missing any please post them), and as of now Panaeolus cinctulus is the only active species I have found, and though this is a generally non-psychedelic event, I'm sure the experts could provide great information on locating these other species.
Again, I'm probably not going, but it would have been great to get expert information on locating the species listed above, most of which are in season...

I've noticed that when people are joking their usually dead serious, and when they are dead serious, it's usually pretty funny...-Jim Morrison
