Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

8 days remain. So fucking pumped. Who else is hyped for this game? Reviews are coming out. As far as i know the only review I've seen is ign rating it a 10/10. This is driving me nuts. So what are you most looking forward to in this game? What platform you playing on? How do you feel about all the changes in this series?
Also let's try to keep this thread spoiler free, of any events happening after the end of ground zeroes, and before metal gear(msx).
I've been playing through this whole series this last month and can't believe the 3 year wait(kinda 7 year wait, as soon as i finished mgs4 I've been dying for a new console metal gear game, but 3 years if you consider waiting since the first footage of it was released).
Also what do you think of all these controversies? Is quiet chico?(i think she could be, but i don't think this will be the case, but if it is i won't be surprised)
Will gray fox make an appearance, could we potentially play as him unknowingly?(i doubt we play as him)
What about all this dr canavero mumbo jumbo?
WHY DID KONAMI END THIS GREAT LEGACY?
DISCUSS INCOHERENTLY!

Tell me about it, theres lets plays of the game on youtube. So far im watching a lets play by kinda funny games on youtube, 15 minutes in no spoilers, if your interested, if i come across any spoilers ill post back here how far in it is. It's a 59 minute gameplay vid, so im sure ill get something spoiled and moan and bitch.
If you've completed ground zeroes and seen the e3 gameplay there was no spoilers in that vid. It was pretty good, last 15 minutes or so he just messes around with emblem customization and motherbase color scheme.

That sucks, ps4 downloaded it in like 10 hours. Im anxiois to see what the mod community can do with this game, and really hope they don't ruin online functions.(unless they find a way to ruin the microtransaction aspect, fuck konami)

Am way outside of the city on a satellite net hookup, so my connection is on the slow side even for the consoles. It is a trade off I am willing to accept. Large downloads are a little slow, but online play is mostly solid.
Honestly know very little about the game in terms of features, but the microtransaction insight is a little discouraging to hear off the bat.
Have not played MGS since Playstation 2, but Nvidia gave me a coupon code for a free download of the game when I got my new card, so why not.
How much support and access is Konami giving the mod community? Am a little in the dark on all details here. Dx

I have no clue about mod support. I thought it was just something that inevitably happens to pc games kinda like hacking. Afaik ground zeroes the most i saw was they switched characters around so probably not much the more i think of it.
I have no intentions on playing the microtransaction ruined game mode, although it slightly affects campaign(hardly at all), and the actual pvp multiplayer doesn't look like it's gonna be effected, so thats good. This is definitely the last konami game i buy, i can't believe all the bullshit they stirred up pre release of this.

Am likely going to end up in similar shoes to yourself, focusing on campaign mode primarily, and staying away from anything in terms of microtransactions. Got the game for free with the promotion, intend to keep it that way.
Been having fun with the game so far; it may be a little ridiculous that my favourite feature thus far is tranquilizing and rescuing animals out of the war zone though. Racking up hero points by air-lifting sheep.

I gotta fucking zoo going on.
My fav mission by far is rescuing the og mother base survivors. Their goofy as fuck. I really wish there was a co op mode though. It doesn't even need missions, like imagine a free roam with a friend where all you do is collect resources for your campaign mother base. I think that alone would work. O well though, either way this game is the fucking shit.

I...actually have not even completed past the first set of unlockable quests after the initial Afghanistan mission. Spent hours nabbing animals and doing side ops; going to have to maybe pop some actual progress in if they liven up the base a bit.
Co-op free roam would be fantastic, and would actually cause me to pick up a copy for my girlfriend to play together. It would work really well though, traversing/sneaking around and being able to run distractions for each other would be great fun.
Super well put together and really spectacular with the graphics cranked up; surprisingly light on system resources for the quality it puts out as well.

Got a GTX 980 ti.
SLI support with the Oculus is improved from a year ago, but still not perfect. Decided a single card would suit me better than doubling up the 960 -- came out of it with an additional 2 gigs of VRAM (6 gigs on one card vs. 2+2 on an SLI) and a bit greater ease in keeping my rig cool.
It still doesn't have enough power to max out everything in GTA 5, but at least I have all the basic graphics settings maxed out and it looks stunning in the Oculus. Three minutes on a dirtbike nearly made me hurl from sim sickness though -- holding down 60 FPS makes sure that something like Skyrim or basic car driving and foot travel in GTA leaves me with no sim sickness for hours; but bouncing through the dirt and grass and getting tossed from the bike in first person was almost instant.
Really wanted to fire up MGS in the Oculus if VorpX has got support out for it yet; however, even after just running through the tutorial I decided that even if I can run it, it might not be very comfortable to try in anything other than the 3D cinema view. Still nice, but not as immersive as VR mode.
Even if I have to do all my gaming on the monitor for this one though, this game is fantastically made and provides a great experience even on screen. Put in 15 hours after it downloaded yesterday, and planning to hop back in shortly. Still only 7% done though; caught up in exploring.

I've saud this everytime the topic of vr simulators comes up. I want to play pt on a vr headset. And yeah thinking about that tutorial in a headset makes my head hurt.
Do you ever get drunk in gta wearing the occulus, or smoke the in game weed?

Drunk generally no, have an occasional glass of wine for the visual effect, but the stumbling effect that kicks in after a few drinks irritates me.
My GTA:Online character smokes a few bowls every time before leaving the apartment though. I like to smoke a bowl of my own, boot up the game, smoke in game, then hop into my car and try to navigate to my first race that way.

a fucking metal game that's awesome I played a few missions then ended up turning the markers, icons and other stuff off so I don't blow through the missions as quick and the game looks as nice as possible
there are some things in this game that have no place in a metal gear game they're just there for casual twitch streaming fags so they don't have to pay attention
you should play ground zero's if it's ever on sale it's actually the tutorial/intro

This is the best way to play the game. Relying on audio and your own visual cues to hone your stealth it makes the game into the most badass movie woth you being the director. I played with one of my friends side by side, we had to tv's setup, no markers or anythings, reflex off, equipped the weakest rifle and water gun, essentially osp is what we aimed for, and races through the honey bee mission.
I love doing races like this on missions, no maually restarting the mission either, you get spotted you have to just see what happens.

Nah im just sayin the game gets harder as it progress'
The way afganistan is set up the outpost merely just slow you down when going from town to town and there are easy tricks to get past them with no sweat
unlike in the other metal gears where you start off in area's and have to snake your way through tight corriders and open rooms with multiple levels

MGS handles "open world" in the way Witcher 3 and Dragon Age Inquisition did, as opposed to Skyrim. Uses helicopter travel to move between large maps individually running on an open-world formula. Cannot really walk from Afghanistan into Africa, or to Mother Base in the middle of the ocean; however, once on the map, changes are persistent and missions and side-ops take place rather naturally in the worldspace.

One of the hearthstone twitch streamers I watch now and then was playing MGS:PP this morning when I got home from work since the EU hearthstone servers were brokeass. It looked pretty fly, even to a white guy. I'll prob pick it up sometime soon though I already have a ton of games I dont or havent played yet. I bought far cry 4 months ago and just barely installed it 2 days past, and have yet to play it.

When you do, at the start of the game(far cry4) theres a part where the antagonist sits you down at a table in the very beginning and should i stay or should i go starts playing. You should stay. Seriously don't move the controller for like fifteen minutes and something pretty crazy happens.(don't wanna spoil it but PLEASE do this)
