Pan Cyan Patties From Field Giving Fruit!
    #22132544 - 08/23/15 07:37 PM (8 years, 5 months ago)

hey everyone, i currently have a small to medium sized cow patty that is producing small pan cyan fruits. after looking thru older threads i'm still left with a few questions that maybe someone can help with.

i've had the patty for about 4 days or so, nestled under a small flower garden in my back yard. for the first 2 days i would offer a bit of water to the patty as it sat out in the hot florida summer sun. on the third night (last night) we got a good rain around 3 am, it seemed to be pouring for about an hour or so. had i been home, i probably would've taken the cake inside to prevent it from getting too much water (everyone seems to suggest lightly misting the cakes...) after arriving home today i was pleassantly suprised to find a small but nice cyan fella growing off the patty, as well as quite a few small pins.

i am having a hard time figuring out the best way to interact with the patty and mycelial intelligence, the small fruits are an obvious indicator i do not have something dialed in right. since i've noticed a good amount of ants crawling out of the patty, i am now wondering if i should give it a new home inside a small tupperware container, perhaps laid on top of some damp potting soil, fanning often for FAE, left outside in a similar area to the shady cover of the garden thicket....or if i should keep the container inside. i do not have access to perlite and i'm still a bit unfamiliar on all the different ways to build a fruiting chamber so i'm not sure how it would best to apply in this scenario. it is currently very hot in florida, humidity usually in the 90's close to 100, and drops to around 70-80 mid day, occasionally spiking back up with the summer afternoon rains.

i do have a potted plant in a back room (that also has a large freezer, which gives off a slight amount of heat, keeping a nice warm temp in the room) that has slightly older soil (it's still growing after quite a long time) so i was also wondering if i should possibly just lightly bury the patty inside the pot's soil, lightly watering occasionally, and possibly putting a layer of plastic over the pot for insulation, or if i should just keep it on top of the soil in the room, free (for the most part) of other pests. it's worth noting the temperature in the room is around 90-94, which seems it could be too hot but i'm not sure.

also, it's worth noting i do not have access to much else at the moment or i'd consider adding more manure/mulch to make a bed in yard.

thanks for any help, back to researching :crazy2:

sorry for the blurry pics

rather small, but still very exciting to see. i've never dosed on copes and not sure how many i'd take since i dont have access to a scale, but the fresh ones are very tempting to try. altogether i'd say i have about 14 little copes (some are ridiculously small) besides the ones shown in pics above, and the other smaller pins that are just now growing.

the mushrooms shown above have been growing for about 2 days or so, i suppose i'll leave them on for a while to see how much bigger they get.
