You're rationalizing. I don't know what your stance on God is at this point because your posts confuse me. But what you just said gave me the type of feeling that you think you're untouchable. That's a very dangerous mindset to have because let's say you get a bad batch. What then? Do you use daily?

I lost a good friend because she went overboard on painkillers and booze one night.

She was such a nice girl too. I occasionally wonder how she'd be doing...

It's a disease of the mind where there is no known cure in science. God is the only answer to relive anyone of their alcoholism. It has worked for years for millions. Working with other alcoholics is the key to success.

There is something mentally wrong with addicts. Call it a mental disorder or being mentally weak, a fiend, whatever, but there are similarities among them.

The one's I knew were always broke, always bummed off of other people, mooched where they could, took advantage where they could, and didn't really appreciate the freebies they received.

They would beg you to roll another joint, or put out another line of coke, there was no amount that was sufficient, just do it all until it's gone.

They usually end up huge losers or they turn to AA/NA meetings and become really religious and spiritual - always talking about their imaginary higher power friends in the sky and how great sobriety is.

Oh, they are usually really dumb too. Nothing further than a HS diploma - maybe a year of community college. Terrible with numbers, unable to think logically, not very good long-term big-picture thinkers. Often come from either divorced and remarried parents or raised by a single mom - with the deadbeat dad being nearly identical to them.

These are just my personal observations. And in the rare case the person was normal and doesn't fit that description - it's usually because they got involved with a girlfriend or hang out with a bunch of losers that roughly fit the above profile (no education, poor, leeches/mooches, raised by a single parent, etc.).

There are very many successful addicts who you would never suspect to be addicts.

Disease? Not a disease. The point is mute.  Find a way to help them if they need it and that's all that really matters.

You are correct.
Nobody was googling  in the 80's, either...:foreheadslap:

What we did back then was read the PDR.
I bought a new one every year when I was a:dealer:
Drug interactions were fairly well known,
especially alcohol with barbiturates or tranquilizers.

I only know one guy that purposefully killed himself with a heroin/meth speedball... and I'm pretty sure the people I used to hang out with were crazier and more reckless than you currently think possible. Who knows, you might have had a crazier life, but I kinda doubt it.

The point was that information wasn't as readily accessible unless someone was like you and sought out a PDR - though I doubt most did that.

I've known a few folks to OD and die
It never made me feel that I was in danger to do the same
I have struggled with control over chemicals, but I wouldn't exactly worry about OD
I do worry about blood pressure
This is regular middle age stuff
As far as alcohol and drugs, I am not the satisfied type
I guess that's why I am a methadone patient with an affinity for drinking

Very true, only would know if they were partying with you or hit a speedbump in life. It is a lifestyle choice and a coping mechanism, denial of reality, head buried in the sand.

Any some scenes you should not fuck with, those that do end up dead or severely changed, generally for the worse.

Do you know how many people I know who have died of drug overdoses?  None and I'm 58 years old.  I don't associate with morons.

With all due respect to a legendary shroomite & experienced adult, shut the fuck up!This is a very inappropriate time to bring that up first of all even if you do truly believe it,secondly just because you never had anyone in your life OD DOES NOT mean anyone who does is a moron. That's an extremely short-sided,aristocratic type of statement imo. There's a much deeper psychological, genetic and physical basis for addiction and overdose.  You might say to yourself "well if you don't shoot up you aren't going to OD". That's a ridiculous notion as well.

R.I.P to those you have lost OP,most times it's good people that get caught in addiction and accidentally do too much one night. It's extremely tragic, especially at that age
