I dunno, sometimes I tense my muscles up, slowly relax them, take a breath, tense the muscle up on half as much and then slowly relax that, going through my whole system of muscles one at a time...
I also just like to stretch in the morning and evening before I go to bed...
What relationship, if any, do you think flexibility has to spirituality.
-------------------- Everything is better than it was the last time. I'm good. If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care. It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence. I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too. If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.

Ostensibly a meditation exercise, Space Hymn by Lothar and the Hand People is first and foremost a hypnotic induction. I use many of these suggestions in my inductions. For me, letting go is a part of ego-diminishment, most of which is a psychological process, but too much physical relation will result in my #1 enemy of meditation - sleepiness. Of course, this song was way cool back in the day, with tamboura droning in the background.

I love stretching, I try to do it before bed, and sometimes in the morning, but I ride a bike everywhere so it's not good to stretch before doing any physical activity, best to stretch the night before you do any exercise/physical activity.
Anyway, I have a little way I do things and it totally makes my whole body hum, a very pleasing sensation, I never thought of it as a spiritual thing though just felt good.

Eh, your body is your temple as far as I'm concerned, I actually find it best to stretch before and after any heavy physical exertion, particularly lifting anything heavy...
but yah if your body is blissing out with pleasurable sensations, you're probably not anxious or angry or any of the other myriads of shitty mental states that could have power over you.
You're at peace, of course it's spiritual

Flexibility implies softness & suppleness, as opposed to solidity & rigidness...
TAO TE CHING - Chapter 76. Flexibility
A newborn is soft and tender, A crone, hard and stiff. Plants and animals, in life, are supple and succulent; In death, withered and dry. So softness and tenderness are attributes of life, And hardness and stiffness, attributes of death.
Just as a sapless tree will split and decay So an inflexible force will meet defeat; The hard and mighty lie beneath the ground While the tender and weak dance on the breeze above.
Was that too far east?

Oy, that's familiar, but I can't place where I read that, whether it was a novel or a magazine article or something else, it sounded to me like it work well. Never got around to trying it.
I like walking for relaxation, I think many people use non strenuous repetitive motion, such as dancing, swimming, ect., for relaxation more than for exercise.

Yah? I dunno, a psychologist taught me them a good 15yrs ago, maybe he had read it from a magazine article I was going to school for philosophy & psychology - my mind was thriving, but somatically I was not taking good care of myself..... so the techniques he provided me were quite helpful and have stuck around.
