Wrote the wrong date on a check, post dated by a month

So i wrote out a check today and put it in a mail box, one where you cant get it out after you put it in.
I didn't realize until later that i wrote 9/22/15 on the check instead of 8/22/15.
I have the money in my account, so thats not an issue. Will the company have problems cashing the check though?
Should i call the company i am paying or my bank? Do i have to do anything? Or will the check still be able to be used before the date i wrote?

Ive done it before, the company still put the check through before the date and everything was fine. Maybe call the company and let them know you wrote the wrong date and that it is okay to put it through. Your bank wont know it was dated ahead unless you call and tell them the check number was post dated for whatever date. So the company shouldnt have any problems cashing it at all.

Anxiety mostly.
Its such a stupid mistake, but i feel like if i posted this in the pub, i would just become that guy who doesn't even know how to write the correct date.
And, whenever i post on SA, i usually get legit responses, instead of peoples opinions

They'll probably not be able to cash or deposit it. If someone else did, like Anon 2 said, that was a fluke.
I'd say you're gonna have to do a stop payment on that check and write another one. Definitely call the company in the meantime.

You can cash post dated checks. It doesn't matter. I wouldn't worry about it.

This would only be true if the company physically turned the check over to the bank. That doesn't really happen anymore. Even at the grocery store checks are almost always done electronically. The machine that prints out the receipt also has a slot to read the routing info on the check, and then you sign the little screen and verify the amount. It's not capable of reading dates and your checkbook isn't somehow wirelessly attached to your account. The bank has no idea what you wrote for the date.
For all practical purposes, these days checks are nothing more than disposable paper debit cards. They function the exact same.

In banking, post-dated cheque is a cheque written by the drawer (payer)[1] for a date in the future.
Whether a post-dated cheque may be cashed or deposited before the date written on it depends on the country. A Canadian bank, for example, is not supposed to process a post-dated cheque and if it does so by mistake, the cheque writer may ask their bank to correct the error. In the United States and the UK, post-dated cheques are negotiable instruments and can be drawn upon at any time, while in India and Australia post-dated cheques are not payable until the date written on the cheque.

I knew a banker here stateside that said post dating a check doesn't work here in the US, all it does is change the date the check goes void.
SO, a check written is a check cash-able. At least here in the US.

Gonna update this, called the billing company a few days ago, they said that most likely the check will go through the computer system normally. He also told me that the payment is not due until october, so even if it doesn't go through i will have enough time to write a new one. He put a note on my account though, regarding the check, so if it goes through i wont know if thats just what would have happened normally, or if my call made the difference
I thought the payment was due the beginning of September, apparently its not until october

Thanks for everyones input
