I greatly disagree about people's views on talking about religion. While conversations should be cordial and bare no intentions to conversion, the only reason I understand what I do about the many religions out there and how my friends and loved ones came into them, is by developing these ideas. The diverse perspectives have helped my own, too
Now opening a thread, essentially, "I'm Atheist and super smart. Debate me!" Not really entering a conversation from a healthy place...
If you are trying to be a warrior, converting people to Atheism, then I'm sorry for whatever vendetta you have against the church, but you will not overcome in this way.
Is this troll bait dead now? Thank you, thank you.

p.s. - What everyone above me said.
p.p.s. - Athiesm isn't a belief. It's a lack of belief.
p.p.p.s. - No teenager is actually intelligent. In five years, you will cringe at almost everything you currently say and do. In five years, you may have a completely new spiritual or philosophical outlook than the one you currently hold.

It's debatable what Atheism is. Many people attribute it to the afterlife idea of oblivion.
It's actually just because most people start religious, have already considered the afterlife deeply, then lost faith (still merging the ideas of (lacking) dieties and afterlife). As any Christian would.
The phenomenon is fairly normalized and thus Atheism can be thought of as a belief system. Kinda like Satanism is a spin off of Christianity.

I'm just an Ietsist man
I literally have no fucking clue what's going on to be honest and that should honestly be a lot more peoples mentality. The sooner we realize that we truly don't know what the fuck is actually going on the sooner we might actually start to know what might be going on if that makes sense.
I think the only way we can have a better idea of what is going on and answer the question of what life actually is.... is through science and psychedelics.
I'm more or less content in just being in awe at the mystery of the universe.

Yes, but how many principles hang onto one word? Is it a belief, or belief system. I say the idea transcends the dictionary definition due to religious influence.

many Atheists say "lack of belief" and many say "there is no God".
there are two types of Atheism. the kind that denotes the value of "no Gods" and the kind that stipulates that it's not about "no Gods" but is about nothing...which is kinda pointless but there ya go.
two types. one who is Anti-Theist, and one who is anti-belief.
they often get confused apparently, because alot of Atheists like to debate the existence of God (you know with their lack of any belief), which influences other Atheists to presume there can't be a God, you know, the less informed Atheists.

well this is getting into semantics...
but then why are atheists usually distinct from agnostics
i would be careful labeling your self with something what has such a broad definition. seems like agnostic is defined more precisely to where you stand in your "atheism"
seems like by calling yourself an atheist but standing as an agnostic you will always have to further explain yourself or no one will actually understand your thought.

Well I'm an intelligent theist.
You can't both be intelligent, can you? One of you has to be intelligent, the other not-intelligent.
Then again, maybe neither of you are intelligent (regarding something potentially beyond the rational mind)
