No
incorrect
you cannot not believe in something without a comparative notion, to combat that belief, which in the case of believing in God is the belief that there is no God.
it's right in the name. A-Theist/Anti-Theist.

In any case Atheist, Agnostic, Christian or Buddhist any explanation for the universe boils down to 'I dunno' at a certain point. So Agnostic is at least consistent

seeing as no one has mentioned anything about their beliefs being accurate save Bill, whom is gone again, as far as i can tell; so i have to presume it's not that this discussion is devolving, just that it's not featuring your exact stance on the issue, which oddly enough you haven't even given so....

You may spend too much time on the webz In real life people consider themselves to be peers with plenty folk who may stray outside their own school of thought

peers in the sense that you know one another, associate or are friends perhaps, but not peers in the same schools of thought, hence the words that i used.
Weird, I associate with plenty of people, am friends with them, whatever. If something comes up where I feel they may be offended by my real inside thoughts, I just let it slide like other normal people You must be way deeper and more spiritual than me

ie, you cannot be peers if you're from two different schools. you are then "not-peer", or non-peers if you prefer.

Except that you could be peers in other more important areas and not let something so trivial as an ubsubstantiated beleif or lack thereof get between you

i am talking about peer groups within the select groups being discussed. peers in general, no. that's what you might have been talking about, but it's irrelevant...i'm talking about THE DISCUSSION HERE.

That blew my mind. I think its exactly how all this came about. I have always thought something like that and never knew how to put it into words...so I must thank you. Just genius..

this discussion has less to do with what actually happened and more to do with what people do with their beliefs as to what happened. while there may be more plausible scenarios than others, nobody knows what happened, so all we are left with is belief about what happened. for me, that raises the question that all beliefs do, namely the question of their utility. that is, beliefs are only as good so far as they are useful. so is it useful to believe you're part of a chosen people who have been saved by the avatar of a supreme deity, awaiting its return at the end of time? or how about believing that you're part of a never ending cosmic cycle of reincarnation that is only escapable via means of self mastery? or how about believing in nothing? i suppose mileage varies. i don't really care what anyone believes as long as they don't let it get on me.

Atheists and agnostics should be masturbating together, not debating the merits of one or the other. It's a waste of time.

I don't think there's even a significant difference between the two, really I don't see a need for the two terms. But hey, maybe what I consider atheism is just agnosticism, though that's not what the definitions imply.

there's a big difference between atheists and agnostics. you can be an agnostic christian, but you can't be an atheist one.

ive never heard of being an agnostic any religion. i consider myself an agnostic-theist as opposed to an agnostic-atheist, also i share my values and morals with many religions but i am not religious. i will attend religious events ie church or navajo ceremonies (would attend any religious event that is open for outsiders or that i'm invited to), though i do it more to diversify my place in the community and experience culture not to worship.
although the term does make sense to me, as having "faith" is different than claiming to know anything.
