Owning a Franchise Restaurant?

I am thinking about opening a opening a franchise in Massachusetts, possibly a dunkin donuts or subway. Has anyone had any experience with opening a franchise or owning a few? Is it risky? competitive?
thanks any advice would be appreciated.

Subway? What could be the risk there? Doesn't their spokesman owe his weight loss to an entirely Subway diet? Seems like a solid testicalmoania to me...

I dated someone who owned a Subway franchise in Michigan. She told me that she never made any money on the sandwiches. The real money came from the extras like soda and chips.

Restaurants, in general, have about an 80% chance of failure for one reason or another. To buy into some franchise means to spend big $$ and never even own the restaurant, just work for some massive chain leaching your life blood one sub at a time. Imagine having to hire, train, and count on employees to not screw up and worse rip you off while you can't be there every hour of every day.
The food truck model, however, is a good one. A lot less money and you own the business and might actually make some money depending on where you can park legally and your potential clientele. BBQ it the smoke brings them in, then rake the money on chips and soda and bottled water.

I know it is a lot of work and 80 percent seems pretty high wow, but the business model is already set up for you, you only have to manage it

Manage it after shelling out big $$ to buy it. Do you think they just give you the franchise based on your good looks?

Before even thinking about starting a food truck, find out what the local rules/laws/regulations/permits are required. California, from what I hear, is the ultimate 'fuck you' state for business like that. I can buy roach coaches for pennies on the dollar from people who can't afford all the food truck business fees that Cali stomps their dreams out with.

Anybody living in CA needs to move and now unless they just love to get bent over and screwed, which may be a reality. The only food trucks allowed are those from the illegals. They don't have to worry about fees, hell mang we just makin' some tacos. Check out grindall61 on youtube, the food truck thing actually happened sponsored by their local illegal favoring SCAG freaks.
