I have a bunch brf cakes colonized and for whatever reason when I fruit them in my sgfc some fruit, and some don't fruit at all...I was wondering if maybe I should take like three cakes at a time, and set them in a pan and cover them with a combo of coconut coir and vermiculite, let that colonise and then throw it in the fruitng chamber, would that work? Any suggestions? should I crumble the cake or leave them alone please help me here I want to get the most out of what I have done so far.
Thx, andganjaburger

I have been just straight up putting my cakes in the chamber but since you say you dont seem to be having any luck with a sgfc you can crumble them and mix them with another substrate in order to do a mini mono sort of. Mix your cakes (spawn) with some pasteurized horse poo and verm or coco coir whatever you see fit but I would look up a few bulk teks before just throwing some things together. Maybe just try and get good with your SGFC before moving to something else so you know whats causing what to happen to your mushies. Plenty of people on here are more than willing to assist in finding out what can be done to help improve your sgfc but plenty of people also say to simply do bulk.

I spray when they look dry, fan a free times a day have at least 4" of perlite.... Dunk & rolled cakes. They put off a couple mushrooms here and there, just nothing like I thought...although I did crumble one qt. Cake and "sandwiched" it between coir/Verm layers... And as of today, looks like there are a lot of pins starting... I guess I just have no luck w/cakes.smh.. I guess I'm destined for bulk, & casings. How do u use the c/poo, :/poo?

I found this old thread recently where Anno did not bother crumbling cakes.
