that's just ludacris fattycap, bacteria is not a danger for anything colonized, you can even spawn with bacteria and come out fine.
what you're doing is the old "out of sight out of mind" technique..

i'm not doubting you got a couple mushrooms, i'm saying it's not a win and not worht the risk you take, better off fixing your technique rather then spreading shitty advise

Especially when you're correcting people who DO know what they're talking about. Just makes you look retarded.

Part of the reason I love this hobby is that I'm a germaphobe. If something goes wrong, you know pretty much right away.
What you have there sounds like my worst nightmare.

Woot! Flame war in my very first post! I'm honored.
Yeah, I won't be opening that jar (I'm doing pf tek and there's no way in hell I'd put it in my FC even if I was tempted to experiment with contaminated jars that appeared to recover, like this one is apparently doing)
Like I said, just kinda fascinating to keep tabs on it and watch what happens.

Riiiiiiiiiiite. And when it fully recovers u won't try fruiting it. Riiiiiiiite. This whole topic was about a simple way to salvage a wasted jar. That's all. And everyone drops bombs on me like I'm giving horrible advice. It is to laff.

Maybe you should actually read the topic before passing judgement. Cause the whole contaminated jar thing was a complete side note that I found interesting is all, and I never asked for advice about how to save it.

Sivarted said: Well the reason for not wanting to ever open the jar would be to not release a fuckton of mold spores into my house. Definitely not anywhere near the healthy ones for sure.
The myc does seem to be winning though, and maybe even using the mold as sort of a casing layer? Haha
Not the best idea with a PF jar. The dry verm will protect the sterile substrate from mold spores but if the substrate is contaminated it won't keep the mold from growing through it and producing spores near the air holes. Penicillium spores become airborne very easily. Simply moving the jar would be enough to disperse some.

Oh shit. oO. I assumed the vermiculite contam barrier would keep the mold from getting spores outside too. Trashed it immediately after reading that.
Still pretty happy that I only had one contam out of 18 jars, given that I didn't use a SAB.

Fatty, sorry, that response probably sounded way harsher than I meant it to. I do appreciate you trying to be helpful, even though there's no way I'm even considering introducing a cake that was half green mold into my FC on my very first grow attempt. Way too excited about the big fatties that are growing to risk something like that.

For what it's worth, I think I may have actually found a way that fits my desire for low-maintenance even better than monotubs: mexicana sclerotia. As soon as I have some extra time and funds (a little tight right now because every spare penny is going to get my wife and daughter started in a bakery business), definitely going to be trying that out.

Well there you go, that's definitely a low-maintenance way to get some trippage going.

Sclerotia are great for low maintenance but still require an understanding of sterile tek.
Also prepare to be tripping a few months from now as they are not fast.

Update:
I had a couple good flushes before, but for the most part each cake was growing a few mushrooms of varied size, usually only from one spot on the cake, and I think I averaged around 2g dry per cake per flush, which is obviously not ideal, but is certainly a lot better than nothing.
So after a couple flushes, I finally got around to converting my FC to a SGFC.
This is a pic of the first two cakes to start pinning after the conversion:

Both of them have ridiculous numbers of pins and primordia compared to anything I've seen yet, they're totally going batshit.
