Have they popped? I'd start over, sticky sounds like starchy and starch can lead to contams.

From boiling for to long. Starch is a contam magnet :/, for maximum success start over. You can use those grains and see what happens though

Dam dam dam haha. Not worth the risk i guess i will toss em . Also when you boil . Do u wait till it starts to boil then time 10 minutes or do time ten minutes from the moment u turn the burner on?

Every brand of rye could be slightly different.

I'd do it this way .
I'd start the timer when it starts to boil. At 5 minutes mix it and pull out a few grains. Are they popped? No? Good. Are they getting fatter? Yes? Good. Wait another 2-3 minutes and check again. When I start to see a popped grain or two I stop the boil and strain.
Just boiling for 10 minutes is fine too, I just like to be picky. I'm normally in the kitchen cooking so I can look at the pot all the time.
