Just started watching. It's pretty insightful, especially where he gets into how bonding can help with addiction and how our draconian methods of treating addicts actually makes things worse
You should provide cliff notes for those who can't watch/don't have time to watch

I've said so. THe worst enemy of addiction is boredom.
Boredom leads to addiction. Lack of distractions lead to addiction Lack of friends leads to addiction.

There's definitely a widely accepted "environmental" component to addiction.
I think it's simpler than "boredom" or "bonding", but rather a simple system of reinforcers. If you have something better to do than drugs, you'll do it. You can demonstrate this in a simple lab experiment by asking an addict if they'd rather have drug or money. Pay them enough, and nearly EVERY "addict" will choose money. I've seen experiments where addicts have to be "clean" to work, and they'll choose to work if given the chance.
Rats will choose sugar over cocaine because its just "better" to them. It doesn't have to be a hunky dory "bonding", just give people something better to do.

it's the way they present their material, it's like their main target are people who know nothing about the world, as if someone just came from mars, those are their targets; they target bubble headed martians.

How often do they test these addicts? And is the addict still using that money to buy drugs? If so, that doesn't explain anything, that's just simple economic sense. If you're given the choice between $100 worth of heroin a day, or making $1,000 a day which you could then use 10% of to buy your daily heroin dose with, of course everybody would choose the money.
