what age and what state because the charges were crossing state lines for sex with a minor and possession of child pornography. in georgia 16 is still a minor but legal under the age of consent laws but it is illegal for someone to come to georgia to have sex with a 16 year old even though they are old enough to consent under the law
now wanna hear something really crazy, in georgia you can be prosecuted for child porn even if the person in the porn is over the age of 18, the georgia laws do not require the prosecutor to prove the age of the subject, they can simply work on the assumption that the subject is a minor
your poem BTW... it's retarded

Saw a video on youtube earlier from a few years back when Jared was at the little league world series (creepy in hindsight). He was there promoting a children's charity of his (creepier in hindsight). He then goes on to comment that "children are very impressionable at these younger ages and need guidance" (creepiest in hindsight).

I have no comedy reel yet. I host at a nearby venue, and they only video tape the headliner there.
I have been working too much to get a comedy video put together. I had one on youtube from like 8 months ago, but I'm much more polished now so I took it down.

I'd prefer to have it professionally done, then someone holding a phone in the audience. It's also a bit ruder to hold a phone up in the crowd during stand up as opposed to say a concert, where it is still disrespectful as fuck.

I'm just kinda dubious about it. I used to be a huge stand up buff, so I've seen a LOT of non mainstream people and they mostly all suck. It's almost always in the presentation. The basics are there, but it's so unrefined it doesn't even really garner a smile.
There was even someone here quite a awhile ago who posted a video of his friends stand up (who he claimed was absolutely hilarious) and it just wasn't. Not just me making that judgement. Pretty much the whole thread was about how much it sucked.

Like I said, it's more polished now. I do a lot more personality into it instead of cracker dry set up, joke, punchline. I started watching a lot more videos and just sitting back for a few months, then a venue asked if I'd start hosting their shows, so now I'm doing that. I work 3 jobs so going to open mics like I used to is rough, and video taping at open mics is rude unless you are taping all the comics. There's specific clubs out here that will do a full taping of your set once you and them are ready.
I could if I wanted to, but I don't have enough time to polish a set for a dvd yet. By the end of the year I'll have a 30 min - an hr dvd though.

I'd be interested in seeing it. There are some really funny non-mainstream comics out there. Most just tend to bomb it though.

it isn't easy to just go "hey i'm a comedian" and make people laugh, especially if you're not even there...or buzzing in some form.
it's a tough gig. people generally have unrealistic expectations in this area.

I wouldn't say generally people have an unrealistic expectation. I mean something either is or isn't funny. Practically anything can be made funny with the right construction and exaggeration. It's pretty hard to expect anything from a stand-up besides being made to laugh. So the expectation is left completely wide open. To meet expectations literally all you have to do is make someone laugh. Compare that to TV or movies and the like, and the expectation is pretty much non-existent. When you start getting into other forms of media the number of expectations just explode. Good writing, good acting, good direction, good special effects etc etc.

well, congrats, you just explained what Vandago was already saying: he makes people laugh and well, there ya go. all of a sudden the couple of opinions here really don't say all that much.
other than, frankly, "i'm annoyed at such and such and this isn't funny MEREH!"

I didn't say he didn't. I only said I wanted to see for myself. Anyone can say they make people laugh. Shit I can tell you right now I have a million dollars that the government gave me tax free just because I'm that awesome. If I made that claim, you'd want to see proof, yes?
I'm not trying to tell him he isn't funny or is lying. I just want to see. Like I said, I was a huge stand up buff. I preferred finding non mainstream people that were funny. Their stuff is usually a hell of a lot more unique/novel.

Well I've performed at over 20 places, done an autism benefit, and this new venue has been paying me to come back every few weeks. I can't be doing that bad.
There's no judgement in comedy in my eyes. Everyones intellect is different, as are their life experiences. My drug humor leaves crickets with some audiences, where my weird family backround humor kills.....then I do bars where hooker jokes are what all these drunk middle aged guys wanna hear. There's a lot too it.

Shroomslip, no offence, but you just don't sound like a very "comedy" kinda guy. that's all i was really trying to get across. i'd tend to agree with what Vandago just said, that everyone's got a different sense of humor and there should be, at least, no judgement on what is inherently effective ie just because you don't like a certain kind of comedy, doesn't make it "bad comedy"; although sure you could presume to call it shit, however you like...it just makes one seem close-minded to do that. just say "not for me" and leave it at that, but most people tend to want to, for whatever reason, take things personally - "i don't get how anyone can like this shit!" is a common example.
i'm just sayin', don't be that guy. not saying you are, i'm just saying, remember...people like that are dickholes who are missing the point of Comedy.
