Am I addicted to opiates?
    #22119481 - 08/20/15 11:41 PM (8 years, 5 months ago)

About six months ago I'd use an opiate, say 15 mgs of hydrocodone, every two weeks or so, then about 3 months later I started doing around 15-20 mg Hydro/oxycodone once a week. 2 months ago I started doing opiates like twice- three times a week, still 20 mg oxycodone.

This month I was doing them about 3-4 times a week. A week and a half ago I got a half gram of very good heroin, and I started snorting either that, or eating 30-40 mg oxycodone almost every day.

Today I was doing some focalin with some friends, as its my last day home before I go away to college, and about 6 hours after I did it, I started to comedown. I've experienced Dexmethylphenidate comedowns before, but this time I did quite a bit more than I usually do, and it was unusually horrible.

The comedown was so fuckin bad. I felt anxious, uneasy, nauseous, uncomfortable, sore, and just overall sad. So I decided to blow a line of heroin to calm me down, and within a few minutes I felt fantastic. Like the comedown stopped the second the heroin kicked in.

Does it sound like I am physically addicted? if so this is horrible fucking timing, I'm moving into my college dorm tomorrow and I have to go to a ton of stupid ceremonies and welcoming things; Not to mention I've gotta meet lots of new people, and I'm always much more comfortable making friends on opiates, then not, so I was planning on poppin an oxy tomorrow, which I fear will only make me more physically addicted, and withdrawal that much worse.

Dude, get your shit together.  Being struck out on opiates during freshman year or addicted sounds horrible.  College offers opportunity--both good and bad.  Don't let that shit hold you back.

If you have to actually ask if you're addicted, it's a pretty safe bet you are. People who are not addicted to something, generally don't have to question whether they are or aren't.

Them's the breaks with opiates. Once you like them, the ball is already rolling down hill. If you don't want to live as an addict, the sooner you stop, the easier it'll be. At my worst, I was taking 20-30 10/325 hydros a day. It's amazing I didn't damage my liver.

The drugs being out of your system is what causes the withdrawal, not what ends it. That said, your average withdrawal won't last more than 3-7 days.

Well I didn't do any opiates yesterday; just felt really tired on move in day, fell asleep at 7 and missed all the ceremonies and after parties. Felt much better after I woke up today

So no signs of physical dependence :yesnod: I think I'm in the clear

Dude I mean this in the nicest way possible, quit fucking doing drugs before you fuck yourself.
At least take a break from benzos and opiates, nothing will ruin your life faster than that combo.

Yeah IMO if you have to ask, you are probably addicted to them. God im craving some fucking opiates after reading this lol.

Anyway, lay off them. After reading the OP i have no doubt in my mind that you are addicted, or are very, very close and will be addicted in no time if you keep it up.

QFT.

OP, you're clearly in the midst of a downward spiral that you can get out of before it gets unmanageable. If I were you, I'd quit opiates or at least cut down to a couple times a year, and stick with kratom if you want to use an opioid more regularly. Krat dependence is much more manageable and easier to balance with school than any serious opiate habit. No one wants to see you end up dead from an overdose during your first semester of college, like what happened to my best friend last year. Best of luck OP

^ this

Don't even bother with painkillers anymore.  The hassle of addiction and withdrawal makes it not worth it.  I've been down this road and let me tell you, you're not missing out on anything.  It's a waste of time and maintaining an addiction like that involves more work than you'd think it would.  Quit while you're ahead.

If you could get through a day without opiates, and were able to sleep, then no you're not addicted.

I struggled with opiate (mainly heroin) addiction for years, when I got to my worst point sleeping without a fix was out of the question because of the pain in my body and restless legs.  I couldn't get through a day without opiates unless I had suboxone or methadone.

You don't want that, trust me.  But if you go there, I hope you're safe.

I felt shitty most of the day today, but nothing unmanageable. Probably just me getting over a slight mental addiction.

Oh yea and Zombie I got rid of the etiz a long time ago.

I seem to be having a really shitty time at college. I feel depressed and everything just sucks. Is this me not liking college or is this just me being 4 days without an opiate?

I already have kratom coming in the mail so maybe I'll find out in a few days

Idk, I'm in the same boat being depressed as fuck and hating college and I'm still taking a good amount of kratom every day  But there is a good chance that H rebound is responsible for your bad feelings.

You are addicted to opiates.
I've been in your shoes, it's still easy to step out. It won't be in two weeks.

I am friends with atleast 2 dozen people who enjoy psychedelics. I kind of don't, they're like cough syrup - tastes like shit but you drink it because you have a cold.

That's a real hard choice.
Glad I could be of help. Like I said I've been in your exact shoes before, it gets better just ween off and see it through.

Dude if I quit coffee the first day of college I would probably go murdersuicide. I can't imagine quitting opiates and then starting essentially a whole new phase in my life. It's gonna take weeks before you feel normal and happy again if you're doing NEW things like college - take it was an opportunity to quit the shitty opiates since it's easier to quit something if you're away from where you started becoming addicted to it.

About two weeks into my freshman semester someone offered me my first hit of 'cid, an insanely hot girl who I ended up hooking up with for a while at that   and I'm an antisocial loser, trust me things are gonna look up for ya soon.

Kratom is ok.
Atleast pertaining to relapse, it's likely just going to be a moderate alternative.

Personally I hate the shit. I'd use if I was withdrawing but won't touch it otherwise.

Yeah, I know tons of trippers, but I'm on my 3rd year now. About two weeks into my freshman semester someone offered me my first hit of 'cid, an insanely hot girl who I ended up hooking up with for a while at that   and I'm an antisocial loser, trust me things are gonna look up for ya soon.

Also Hex where/how did you meet those trippers? and are they more introverted people or were they real outgoing?

I suppose I'm in the minority of people who like to trip by themselves in a dark room

You are screwed unless you stop before it gets worse.  It's not going to get any easier either.  I've seen many people in the same situation as you, people rarely put in the effort to get off it unless they get burned really badly which it sounds as though you haven't.  Good luck though, people aren't joking when they say opioids turn your life to shit quicker than you think possible.

Opiates help Stim come downs regardless of addiction. If your feeling like crap without the opiates on sober days then chances are your becoming dependant. Regardless your playing with fire by doing H and most likely will become addicted if you continue.

I've done much higher amounts of opiates for much longer then you have and quit with zero withdrawals.  Just usually the day after I stop I feel tired like you said you did.  Not saying that people won't have withdrawals with the amount that  you have done just that I didnt.

The mental cravings sucked though. That was the hardest part for me.  Like others have said this would be a good time to stop.  You could continue  to use and control yourself and be fine but more likely you will continue to do them more frequent and in much higher doses.

It's much better to go through life with a clear head rather then living in a drug induced fog from day to day.

I find the mental addiction is usually always worse.

Ya I agree totally with that. And I think alot of physical withdrawals are in your head.  I mean there's definitely physical wds gonna happen if you get to a certain point but I think you can make yourself think your worse off then what you really are.

At shows or other music related interactions (talking to people playing guitars outside and shit like that). People who are into music tend to be into psychedelics. And most of the psychedelic users that I know are pretty introverted like myself.

At first I was drinking water, then I started drinking juice, I moved on to pop for a while, then I figured I'd go with beer. Then I tried whisky to see what the fuss was all about. It made me sleepy a little so a friend offered some cocaine. It was so amazing that I tried crack.

Am I addicted you think?
