Any mountaineer knows to begin the summit a bit before dawn. Thunderstorms in mountain ranges usually hit by midday.

On the west coast they pretty reliably hit in the early afternoon. right around 2-3 they usually come in in the sierras.
Not sure how different the other coast would be.
either way, be safe out there koods. get out of there if you see your hair start to stand up.

I have a friend that's been confirmed hit twice...he says three times. Once in a sailboat on the bay and another on top of a mountain. I've had it hit a tree 50 yards from where I was standing. The more time you spend outside, especially in wilderness areas...the more likely these things can happen. Thing about being in mountains is that the storm can be on the other side and cross over in just a couple minutes before you can get away from it.

This is ironic, it's thundering like a motherfucker here. I can hear the rain off in the distance but it hasn't made it right here yet..

The definition claims the word means one thing when the majority of people use it in a different context with a different meaning. Faggot has changed definitions a lot of times over the last 200 years alone, it's currently in the process of changing again, it's becoming a word that no longer has a sexuality attached to it.
These jokes explain it quite well. You can't get rid of words, people will always use them, the only way to fight back is to change the context in which they're used. My entire age group used to use that word a lot before we even knew gay was a thing, most of them kept that mentality. This will be my last post in the thread though, I was enough of an idiot last night and I'm going to be drinking again really soon. Love you Koods and sorry again!

Admittedly all my experience is in the Rockies, but I'm just relaying advice another mountaineer gave me.

Weather was too iffy today. Going to Luray Caverns now, and were gonna start the hike at 3:45 to make the summit by sunrise.

the lighting probably knocked down a power line. That scene with the firetruck looks like what I see when we get called out after a storm. When people see ANY wire down they assume it's the power companies which is a good idea really and they call 911. Then cops and firefighters call us. After we get there they leave.
Edit: From a couple of weeks ago.

Why would anyone want Mac or Windows? Windows never quits shoving updates down your throat and Mac is just so expensive for the same exact hardware that's in a PC. Go Linux.
