I've practiced Patanjali's classic Eight-Limbed (Ashtanga) Yoga since 1973. The 8-limbs include the asanas, the Hatha [Sun-Moon] postures, but there are 2 stages before the asanas and 5 stages after them. Many people only pay attention to the postures. I recommend that you snap up this hardcover right now, you will thank me later. It is far easier to absorb than Iyengar's Light on Yoga, which you may want to treat as an advanced text. But you cannot find a better book for beginner or intermediate practitioner than this: http://www.amazon.com/complete-illustrated-yoga-Introd-Marcus/dp/B0032EW6A8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1440123311&sr=8-2&keywords=the+complete+illustrated+book+of+yoga

thanks for the links gonna have to pick them up and practice some real yoga soon, not the watered down version we hear about in the US.

Relieves stress, perhaps so, but yoga is about much more than that.
