Why 1" WG or WC?? (building flow hood)

I'm getting back into mycology after a long hiatus. This time around I'm not using a glove box...fuck them.
I want to do it proper.
I can't figure out for the life of me where everybody who's written flow hood teks determined that the blower should be able to blow the right amount of air with a static pressure of 1" WG
Is this a typical amount used for the construction of any flowhood...and if not...why am I having such a bloody hard time trying to figure this out?
Little bit frustrating

These are the blowers I'm looking at
http://www.homedepot.ca/wcsstore/HomeDepotCanada/images/catalog/VORTEXSPECS.pdf
I'm assuming I need to look at 1" WG/WC to deliver the right flow of air... (CFM) (for unknown reasons, unless someone here can help, which I'm certain somebody knows)
The HEPA filter I will be purchasing will either be a 6" or 12" deep @ 2' x 2' height/width
I'm starting to get my brain around this...it just took a day of reading...
From my understanding the 6" I purchase will have more resistance, so it's ideal over the 12"...
Thanks shroomerites

It seems the filter itself will have it's own static pressure associated to it, depending on it's own specifications.
By the time I get an answer here I'll probably have my own tek down, so I'll try to take pictures of my building process and build a simplified tek that is maybe a little easier to understand...
I've had to consult several teks across many websites to understand this, and I consider myself to be a decently smart person

I'm with you on this one. I'm not 100% sure why everyone says it has to be X CFM at 1". Y CFM at Z resistance should logically output the same flow when it comes out of the filter.
My best guess has been something to do with not overloading the blower/saving money not buying a blower more powerful than what you actually need, but that's speculation.

These are the TEKs I use. They're all as cheap and easy as possible, just like your mom.
