Habitat: Growing in woods, near ash tree's, cotton woods and a lilac bush. Possibly symbiosis with ash roots.
Gills: Polyporous- yellow gills. Possibly staining light blue/ tan after some time. Gills run up the stem a fair bit.
Stem: 1" long. Black near base. comes off the side like a shelf-style mushroom, but found on the ground.
Cap: 2 1/2" diameter. Dark brown with a "bolete" type look, edges turning black.
Spore print color: No Print confirmed.
Bruising: Possibly light blue/tan after time.

Thanks for your time!

Your pictures sux, but it looks like a very nasty polypore. Perhaps Dryad's Saddle. What are you gonna do with it? Eat it? Does it smell like rotting watermelon rind? We need better pics.

It's the ash tree bolete, Boletinellus merulioides.

Apologies, all I have for video equipment is my phone, I tried to present a relatively in depth description. It does not smell like watermelon rines, it is quite pungent though. I would describe it as a standard mushroom smell, almost like the dryad's saddle, but it is most definitely not. The cap is brown and almost "marbled" in pattern. Thanks for the reply though.

Thanks so much, it looks like you are spot on. I knew it was closely related to those Ash trees! Appreciate your time and expertise.
