Hi guys, been out looking for liberty caps and I found a few that I am unsure of. I was wondering if you could help me to confirm whether they are in fact liberty caps.
Habitat: Found in North of England in a grass pasture field containing cows. Slight incline. Growing through grass on soil.
Gills: Gills are chocolate brown colour.
Stem: Stem is brown, non hollow.
Cap: Cap is conical, smooth,

The first three groups are most likely Panaeolus cinctulus IMHO and the last looks like a Mycena species.

I agree, they're not P. papilionaceus. I changed my mind. :P

Hey guys, thanks for the info! Going to check a few other sources before I dive in to the Panaeolus cinctulus. How sure would you say you are based on the inamges?
If I did a spore print and took some more detailed photos could you give me a more definite ID?

Read this and look at the pictures until you get it, then you'll know it when you see them, even then please post pictures to double check, you'll save yourself having to post pictures of mushrooms that aren't liberty caps.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the info. I'm back with a load more and was hoping for help on an ID. I'm fairly confident they are caps but I'm not trying anythign until it's confirmed.
First example. These ones look the same as the previous ones and I am fairly sure about most of these but if you can see any that aren't active let me know. http://imgur.com/pq2Y368,b00u7it,Jb3WvkC,mQ0MJOi,LsrZFKg,eQ6SHFp#0 http://imgur.com/pq2Y368,b00u7it,Jb3WvkC,mQ0MJOi,LsrZFKg,eQ6SHFp#1 http://imgur.com/pq2Y368,b00u7it,Jb3WvkC,mQ0MJOi,LsrZFKg,eQ6SHFp#2
Second example are mushrooms that don't look the same as the first. http://imgur.com/pq2Y368,b00u7it,Jb3WvkC,mQ0MJOi,LsrZFKg,eQ6SHFp#4 http://imgur.com/pq2Y368,b00u7it,Jb3WvkC,mQ0MJOi,LsrZFKg,eQ6SHFp#5
Third example are ones that look a little misshapen for typical liberty caps but otherwise look the same http://imgur.com/pq2Y368,b00u7it,Jb3WvkC,mQ0MJOi,LsrZFKg,eQ6SHFp#3
Thanks for any help guys, once I know for sure which of these are caps I think I'll be better equipped to make up my own mind in the future. Spore prints will be incoming tomorrow if necessary for positive ID.

I'm pretty sure they are Panaeolus cinctulus, which are 'magic mushrooms'
