I have always heard that distilled water was that best, my tap water here where I live is shitty to say the least, it leaves a white powder coating over everything it touches! What should I use in my Mister when I mist my fruiting chamber, should I use distilled, drinking, spring water, any other kind I don't know about, nursery water have anything just tell me the right kind and the best kind to use? Also I have heard many many conflicting reports about using a small and hydrogen peroxide, is that just a myth or does that really help? Thanks in advance for your help if it weren't for you I would not be anywhere close to the level I am, thanks!

i usually used drinking water, just to be on the safe side.. never really had any problems.
as to the peroxide i would only mix it in with the water when i'd notice any bacteria or ugly molds start to form on the cakes, it usually did the trick. not sure if it would be good for the cakes to use it on them too frequently, but im no pro so i'd wait for someone who is more experienced to respond..

you just want regular tap water. if yours is really that bad i suppose steal some from your neighbors spicket outside? or use bottled maybe but i would still probably just use the tap.
distilled water can take things out of your mycelium. since its devoid of all whatevers it will steal them from your myc (not very scientific but you can search this if you need to i forget what it is i just know you only want distilled for spore syringes)

Pure h2o, in liquid form, prefers being slightly impure. Distilled water is as pure as pure can be and it will actually pull and absorb minerals from organic matter.
This is one reason they suggest drinking it over any other type of water. If you drink distilled water when you eat, It will absorb the nutrients from the food and actually allow your body to access those nutrients more easily now that they are dissolved in the water, which your body absorbs more quickly than solid matter.
I believe it could do the same to the mycelium if you mix your bulk sub with distilled water.

Distilled water doesn't steal minerals from your myc or substrate. Even if it did, they'll be deposited back when the myc uptakes the water.
Distilled water just doesn't have anything in it, and the minerals are good for your myc. It's food to them. They will LOVE your hard-ass tap water. But as long as it contains 2 parts H to 1 part O and nothing that would hurt you it'll be fine.
The only time to use H2O2 in mycology is to fight cobweb. It hurts your myc just like any other kind of fungi.

Actually if you re read my post, you'll see that what i am saying is that distilled water will absorb nutes from your sub which may help the myc absorb them better.
That's how it works for us so i figure it may work the same way with them
