hey everyone! This is my second time trying to grow a kit! First time was a success but in a cooler country. Ive noticed that my pins appear to have stopped growing and i think it might be high temperature and humidity. im not sure if this is white stuff on my cake is mycelium or some other mould. If my pins did indeed abort what can i do to save the colony?

Thosearent getting enough fae. Long and thin there stretching for air. White fuzzy patch is your mycelium basically still trying to colonize. Fan more. If the pins did abort just pick them and carry on to second flush.
-------------------- Alright then, picture this if you will: 10 to 2 AM, X, Yogi DMT, and a box of Krispy Kremes, in my "need to know" post, just outside of Area 51. Contemplating the whole "chosen people" thing with just a flaming stealth banana split the sky like one would hope but never really expect to see in a place like this. Cutting right angle donuts on a dime and stopping right at my Birkenstocks, and me yelping... Holy fucking shit!

Fanning doesn't replace fae. Fanning is done after misting to promote pinning faster by making it evaporate quickly. Fresh air exchange is constant, and you'd need to fan every 5 minutes to replace it with Fanning. The reason it's not really an issue on this site is because people developed chambers with holes. The holes will provide constant fae, so noobs don't have to worry about it.
Summary: if you want more fae, punch more holes in the bag, or better yet build a SGFC. Those grow kit people SUCK. They don't know shit. They give you a bag with filter patches thinking it's enough fae. If I made grow kits, I'd make it way better.

Thnx for the fast replies guys! im not sure what fae is but im guessing something to do with airflow. So basically if i add some wholes i might be allright afterall? Btw i live in a really hot country with alot of humidity by it self. Room temperature alone now is 86-89f but will drop to 75 once i turn on the a/c for the night

Short version: it's fresh air exchange.
Long version: mushrooms breathe in oxygen and exhale co2. In our atmosphere we have ~400-600 ppm of co2. During colonization, where the only place to breathe is a filtered hole ideal # is 10000-20000 ppm of co2. During fruiting you want it under 1000 ppm of co2. Your chamber with filtered holes (for colonization) will not let the mushrooms breathe enough if they need under 1000 ppm of co2.
You should definitely poke a bunch of holes with a pen into your bag.

Another thing to keep in mind is you want to keep the surface glistening wet 24/7 with no pooling water! Mist accordingly.

I rarely dunk these days. I like to just keep misting up all the way through lol.

I was thinking about making kits some time ago. It'd be ridiculously easy, and I'd put very thorough instructions. Something literally no one does. It's also legal to do here in Canada too

Lol that's legit. I should see if I can do that. I wouldn't go into to much science crap. But I'd at least explain fae and misting. And include pictures of what it should look like when you mist. Plus the bag would have holes made for fae. I don't like the filter crap lol. You can just leave it on the counter near some sunlight and have fun it'd be really simple actually lol

That's awesome. I wish I had enough money to just make kits to give away. To start a movement
