PC problem: I cannot see the right 1/2 inch of my screen.
    #22111266 - 08/19/15 12:29 PM (8 years, 5 months ago)

:whyyy:

For instance I can no longer see the 'slider' that allows me to drag my way up and down webpages.
What's also weird is that when I do a 'print screen' to Windows Paint, I then CAN see the slider.

Any pointers?

Thanks.

Try installing the newest graphics card drivers for your card. That's always a good start.

But goes the graphics go all the way to the edge of your monitor like normal, just the desktop seems like it got stretched past the edge of the monitor?  Or is there like a dead black strip going down the side of your monitor as if your monitor lost an inch of screen size?

first things first, upgrade all drivers for your video card.  If you are tech savvy then it wouldnt hurt to upgrade ALL your drivers period.

Second, reset the defaults for your video settings in windows.  Also on your monitors menu system reset all the defaults on it as well.  Check the size and alignment section as well to make sure that its not something silly like the monitor got its settings poopooh'd on and it somehow made the video card think the desktop is bigger then it can display or other whacko shizzle.

Try another VGA/DVI/DisplayPort cable? I've seen a few oddball monitor issues cleared up by doing this.
Same issue with another monitor?
Reboot into SafeMode and see if issue persists.
Video card model?  Clean fan perhaps?

Start there.

Change the resolution

Try a live disk or USB drive of ubuntu and boot into it and see if the problem is still there. If it is it is likely a physical problem.
