Culture pic--What am I looking for?

This is a picture of a KSSS 3rd transfer, 6 days ago. I don't have a program where I can draw lines on the pictures. What am I looking at?

I've been taking slices from the edges, where there are brighter white fans. Yes? No?
What's a sector?
I've seen a lot of pictures, and watched RR's videos. Not sure I'm seeing the same thing in mine, dig?
Any words of help would help. Thanks, always.

Keep transferring, I don't see sectors.
I worked with KSSS a lot, it all looks very fluffy:

Vs something like my PR:

Or APE:

I was told it was because it has a startling amount of genetics in it's code.

That should explain a lot
Take your new cuts from the farthest edges. 1 o'clock and 10 o'clock look good.

Cool beans, mate! Great stuff. Kicks the ball a long way down the field for me. The white fluffy part. Got it. Thanks.

If that is from a print or syringe just grow it out already.. You don't want to isolate from MS, youll just be wasting your time. Always start from a clone!

Hold it. Please excuse my ignorance, but this doesn't make nearly as much sense as it should. This is the third transfer of an initial drop of MS. Where do I get a clone if I have not grown anything? Where did the damn things come from in the first place? I know my syringes are from spores. You can see them floating around in the water. I dropped a single drop on a plate, grew that out and took what I hoped was the best mycelium, and did it two more times. This isn't good to do? What???
Tell you the truth, I'm not even sure what you mean by a clone. I have an idea, but it could be wrong. I took a piece of the inside of a stem of a BHT. Would that be a clone? At least I'm getting a lot of practice...at making mistakes.
Thanks.

Okay so basically what he's saying is you have a drop from an MS spore print there.
That MS spore could grow out to be just about anything. For instance, you could get a killer flush from that. OR you could get the worst pinset you'll ever see. Now as you transfer from this variable you're gradually bringing the variables down BUT you have no idea if you're going in the right direction or not because you haven't fruited anything.
So basically every transfer maybe you're transferring TO a killer flush or AWAY from a killer flush. So he, and I, suggest you fruit it and find out what you're dealing with.
A clone is basically a fruit you crack in half and take an inner tissue sample from and put it on agar. This fruit is your base for your isolations. If you cut away from this and fruit that and you get less shrooms then you know you took the wrong sector. If you take another and get the great pinset you were looking for then you know you got the right sector and can keep going down and down from there. This way you can get to a monoculture that you KNOW is potent and fruits well.
Clone clusters for more yield and big mushrooms for big mushrooms

Now THAT is an explanation! Pardon me while I go back and read it two or three more times before I start to get it.
This is going to take some time, isn't it? Fortunately, I'm hooked. And I haven't even consumed any yet. That should be FRIDAY! yeah, baby!
Okay, so I take a piece from the inside, grow it out, and then fruit it. Do you save the culture from which you fruited? Would all the fruits from this grow be consistent? Growth and power. (I got to take better notes!)
Thanks, man. Hope this is helping others, too.

i'd have to strongly disagree, i find it the best way to go myself cloning kicks ass but is just as much of a hit or miss

In theory yes, cloning a fruit will give you a much less random genetic pool then an MS syringe. Yes, keep the culture you fruit from. Best to do multiple transfers from your donor and then an additional transfer and then fruit those third generation.
If it's a clone I make one transfer and then fruit it.
Hey Cron, correct me if I'm wrong but you shouldn't clone a clone because of senescence, correct?

For OP, senescence is when the myc has expanded a lot and is "tired". It'll grow much slower or even stall completely.

IMO cloning is never better the isolating because it still take s a bunch of transfers, there has already been a lot of cell division taken place, it's still hit or miss, more then one strain may be present and isolating may take away what made it work in the first place

just keep transferring, i also like to keep my plates i made transfers from till they pin... quick clone

the biggest being longevity but also an isolate is easier to test potency and blah blah blah

Guise.. Let's get real for a minute here now.. These are cubes were talking about after all. The mother fuckers are like goddamn weeds and once you know what you're doing there's not a whole lot you can do to fuck it up... If you want to grow more u don't need to clock in tons of time on trying out strains.. Just boil more water for coir, make more spawn and drill more tubs. That's always been my philosophy anyways
