after 6-7 weeks i finally have a few pins to show off i started this patch with 18 quarts of oat spawn made with grain slurry during the slurry process i noticed my blender blade had pierced its tin foil pouch which i sterilized it in but went on with it anyways the jars colonized in 5 days seemed fine but i didn't really trust them to be clean so i figured why not do an outdoor patch. I started by soaking some old straw thats been sitting outside since fall soaked for 24 hrs in a garbage can(cleaned of course) then basically laid a layer of straw on the ground followed by spawn,straw,spawn......then covered my mound with some bagged potting soil i had laying around watered and that was pretty much it no care was taken other than water a few times a week hoping what i read is right and the first puny flush will be followed with a monster but idk will update pics as things progress not much to look at for now thankyou shroomery for the knowledge couldn't of did it without you

 biggest fruit lol
update 7-15 picked a few more fruits hopefully by weeks end ill have enough to try....also noticed something got into my patch again...will be "patching" my patch with some potting soil anyone have any tips on rodent/insect control? slugs are outta control around here luckily they they only ate a partial fruit yesterday todays harvest 8-13
these have been "hunted" lolz damn slugs.... great close up on slug damage i'm kinda rethinking my approach to my outdoor fruits as per eats suggestions i'll post when I have something solid to show thanks eats actual harvest missed a few pics another harvest anybody home? definitely home crazy outdoor mutant or eaten and repaired idk? snuck out on the late night and busted said spaceslugs these slugs seem to really enjoy the gills must be tender or something idk found some slug killer in my garage so tomorrow im gonna try and set up a perimeter as a trial run because I just spawned 3 blue oyster buckets and I don't want these slugs destroying my first edible attempt but who knows we'll see thanks for stopping by
aloe plant 2nd flush...pitiful but cool

Sweet deal man. We had a whole flower bed full of super rich compost that I was gonna play with, but my dad read that seedlings can't survive in it so he cut the whole thing down with topsoil. Still went ahead and placed a couple cake slivers in the corner. Checked on it today and I saw myc spreading. Hope to have something similar pretty soon. Keep it up brother

I think we all want one but when it gets time to dump the spawn, tubs and controlled conditions are just too comfortable. I've always been really curious though to outdoor grows in terms of potency. I find field shrooms to be pretty weak but if you set the conditions, like a bed full of rich nutrients, if they would be a bit better

Oh yeah man, def better safe than sick. I've gotta get one going sooner or later. My dad was looking at my SGFC "So how much energy does this bullshit contraption use?"
Don't move back home if you dont have too

LOL awesome. I moved back to go back to school. Cutting metal is a rough way to make a good living. He was cool with me growing herb until I got all the lights set up. He doesn't like the psychedelics but his main concern is me using too much power. I've done breakdown charts for him too. "1 23w light bulb, 12hrs a day, 8.5kw a month, here's ten bucks, I'm paid up through the year."
My mom told me I better bring some when I visit. She's gotten really cool in her retirement

always nice to find some outdoor goodies!
congrats.
some of the fruits looked a little water logged. i would always place my outdoor patches near some leafy shrubs so that the water would not directly hit the fruits. ill pm you an idea that may help.
