Hey guys! so I'm curious, how long does postal tyvek last? Can I use it in consecutive pc cycles, and if so how many? Also if you can't why not?
Thanks guys.

I've seen posted several times only one run with tyvek, but I have no idea why nor do I know for sure this is true.

Because it's not intended to be used for a filter material, and PC cycles cause the pores to warp and change size so eventually they become big enough for contaminant particles to get in. I wouldn't use it more than once, if you even have to go as far as to use it once. Synthetic filter discs or pack it up and go home.

I've used postal tyvek on my home-made lids multiple times (about 5 times) using the PF Tek water bath method. I've used the same lids once in the PC. No contamination yet...
I use double layered postal tyvek. I will not be using it in the PC anymore, and they will be retiring their use very soon.

I've used it 2x before without any issues, but only in a pinch. Innoc's point about the pores changing shape and size is spot on... tyvek is basically polypropylene, so it will survive PCing, but it is softened by heat. The pore size isn't ideal to start with so any degradation is making a less than ideal situation worse.

Polyfil FTW. Infinitely reusable and cheap as it gets.

These are the TEKs I use. They're all as cheap and easy as possible, just like your mom.
