We all see color differently, and it's not just in the physical make up of our eyes/brain. It can be influenced by life experience, language and culture as well. There's a really interesting documentary on the subject by BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation, not the other thing ) called "Do you see what I see?". One of the more interesting parts is how they show that some native tribe (I think in Africa) sees colors vastly different than what people who grew up in the first world see. They can easily spot the differences between different shades of green, even when it's all but impossible for us to be able to, but then they struggle on distinguishing a certain shade of blue from a bunch of greens. They have different words for the different colors they see in their native land and the words tend to combine multiple colors we'd call different. One of which being that certain shade of blue and green I mentioned. To them, it looks identical.
Very interesting stuff. This particular documentary was very interesting to me, because as far back as I could start forming rational thought and processing experiences (and not just experiencing them) I've wondered if everyone sees colors the same way I do. If someone pointed to the sky and saw it was purple, and I looked and saw it as being blue, but we both agreed that particular shade was "blue" then how do I know we are truly seeing the same thing.

I'm not sure if I watched the same doc as you but I did see something a while back talking about some "natives" seeing greens, and reds better than us in 1st world countries. This is also true for a lot of primates.
The reasoning if I remember correctly is that their eyesight evolved in this way because when foraging, green usually means something edible in their respective location while red could be something poisonous.
The most interesting part was a controlled study using a primate that was red/green color blind. A scientist was able to rectify the color blindness by injecting the little guy with something or other. Interesting stuff.

Was it this? http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1y4ffq_e01-do-you-see-what-i-see_tv (Jump to 45:28). It could be. I've mentioned that doc quite a few times on the forums. It really is worth a watch if you have an entire hour to kill. That is if you enjoy watching documentaries and learning shit. I do, I don't watch much anymore, but there is like a 5 year period of my life where all I watched were documentaries. There is some really fascinating shit out there that just rarely ever gets talked about.
Irrelevant to the thread, but this was another one of my absolute favorites: It's the history of surgery and it's presented really well. There are miraculous break throughs and just completely dark periods and they are all highlighted. Another of the ones that really held my interest was "The Story of Maths".
Documentaries (the right ones anyways) are leaps and bounds more entertaining to me than movies or TV shows. There is just sooo much shit out there that we go our whole lives without ever realizing. Get into it enough and you will change the entire way in which you see the world.
