Have You Ever Controlled A Dream? 1

I had a lot of strange dreams where stuff was happening, and I KNEW I was dreaming, and wanted to control the dream, but it's real hard.
Like one time, I was out of my body, and I knew I was asleep, so I started out, and I was heading out into space, and kept flying farther and farther, out into the universe. There was a big light ahead and I wanted to keep going, but I got scared and was thinking if I kept going, I wouldn't be able to go back. So I turned around and woke up.
Another time, I knew I was dreaming, I was walking by the city park early in the morning. I woke up and later that day, a girl I know said she saw me walking by the park the other night--late at night. But I hadn't walked by the park in a long time.
Sometimes I'm going to fuck someone in a dream and I try like hell to finish it, but I always wake up.

That's called lucid dreaming when you are aware it's a dream. Alot of people practice by doing certain brain exercises, it's a lot of fun to lucid dream.
Fucking someone in a dream is the best thing you'll ever feel but you wake up in a mess

I have lots of vivid dreams almost every night but I can't ever control them. Usually I think it's real life though and can't tell I'm dreaming

I can go lucid if I try to but affecting the dream in any real way is almost impossible for me. I materialized a gun once but it wouldnt fire, thats about as much influence as Ive ever had on them.

Ya should've taken the safety off--then it would have fired.

I remember having this dream where I was holding a metal disc (similar to a clothes hanger) and when held with both hands would allow me to fly. It was amazing. I visited an ex-gf who lived on a technological island of sorts. It was land that was above water, but everything was covered in water if that makes sense. She was professing her love to me but I was all "Nah shorty, too late. Time for me to fly" and I was free and over the lose of her "love"
Practice lucidity. It has its benefits

Ive had one lucid dream and i only had partial control.
I was dreaming i was in a supermarket, walking down the asile with the fridge food. Then at one moment, i realized i was dreaming!
At this point, i tried stuff. First, i tried to say a specific thing to a person in the store. It worked! Then i tried to control where my eyes looked. And that it worked too! But i haad limited movement and my control varied during the dream, so it was only partial.
but that feeling when u have control over what u can do in a dream.....priceless.

Same. Even if what is happening in the dream is something that would never actually happen in real life, like magically appearing items and what not.
All my dreams feel like waking reality. I tend to wake up a lot when I dream and notice I am dreaming and then fall back asleep to keep dreaming. Even if I do that I cannot control them however

one time i was having a nightmare...i said fuck it i'm out of this shit, and went into an awesome bound of flight, type shit were you can just jump up and away and say "fuck it, new scenario"...not quite lucid state, fully, but it's close to it.
but this time though i jump out of my room and landed on - oh it was nothing but darkness. i tried to land one someone's damn roof but it was just black. my brain was laughing at me. it was very stark. the laughing face i saw that made me jump away.
the nightmare was over with very fast.

The first time I can remember controlling a dream, I was with a group being hunted by a superhuman with a knife. After many fearful and near escapes, just 2 of us were left. I was hiding in a dingy garage and heard the female killed. Was terrifying knowing he would find me soon, until I realized that's stupid because this is a dream. Immediately i flash Gordon like my would be killer to my would be killer, and either kill him with my hands or his own knife(can't remember exactly) and wake up.
Can't remember feeling fear in a dream since

Only once. I became a Vampire (mostly the flying, immortality and all powerful aspects). I wasn't to a lucid state when at the point in the dream I was the vampire, but shortly after I realized I could control everything. I was consciously deciding what to do. I wreaked pure havoc on an entire metropolis GTA style, but way past 5 or 6 stars. I think that says more about me than I should really be sharing though
I've had some control over other dreams. No lucid state but I could decide before going to sleep what I'd dream about and the general interaction of it. Namely on my first couple of days being locked up, I just slept all day because the absolute perfect woman came into my life, and living in that life, even if just a dream, was far better than the reality I was in. I got put on suicide watch and shit because I just refused to do anything but sleep (including eat). Eventually I lost the control, sometime right around the point that I realized I wasn't just going to be able to sleep my entire stay there.
There was also an out of body experience when I was younger and extremely ill. I was floating throughout my house and saw things that I learned later were happening in real time. The circumstances of those events makes it unlikely I just picked up on it through other sense and incorporated into a lucid dream, but it's not impossible. It's never happened again either, as much as I've tried to do it (it was a pretty awesome experience). The oddest concept of it was a feeling like my spirit was just being stretched from my body. The two were still linked, no matter how far I went away from my body. It's kinda hard to describe.

It wasn't hard really. I mean I was in intake isolation/observation or whatever they called it. Was an all concrete room with just a solid steel door/plexiglass window. Not a lot of sound got in. They didn't have a cell for me yet, and I just slept, refused at least 2 meals and then they decided I may be at risk and had some psychologist question me on medications I was taking and why. I was on some anti-depressant at the time. I guess they figured since I was refusing to do anything but sleep, that it must mean I was suicidal. Once I got put on suicide watch, it became even easier to sleep. The guards just pretty much leave you alone until you knock on the window.

Once I dreampt that I was in a fight, for some reason, and everytime I would try to punch the dude I felt like I was being stopped by some strange force. Felt like trying to punch underwater. As I would get closer to him with my punch the water would begin to feel thicker and thicker until I couldnt get closer it was very closerphobic and panicked.
I've had many other nightmares but that was a simple easy to remember one. I've also had some amazing dreams too. Had all of my fantasies experienced in one dream or another. My nightmares too

YES! DREAM THREAD!!
Anywho, I've had alot of lucid dreaming going on in my lifetime. Really neat stuff. Usually I'll just want to do small things because I'm actually curious what the dreams are about. Sometimes I could recall specific dreamscapes and go through the dream story and pick different actions to alter it. Strange and neat stuff like that.
I actually remember all my dreams that I have in detail and alot aren't that interesting. But lately I haven't been having dreams because I'm on medication. It's kind of a comfort because for the past 4 months I just got constant nightmares. Usual stuff regarding subconscious feelings and whatnot. It was really wearing me down.
I have alot of zombie apocalypse dreams though. The last one I had my leg ripped off. It hurt alot in the dream.

I've had the same dream of flying into space, except I went all the way into the light, By far the craziest dream I've ever had. When I woke up I didn't know where I was or who I was for that matter. felt like I had awoken in a different life. When I stood up it was like learning to walk all over again, all woozy n shit.

For the longest time, I think until I was 7 or 8, I thought that it was normal to lucid dream.
I'd have recurring dreams, specifically of a strange fishing spot that was at the basin of a waterfall with ivy covered wood panels on the sides. Everything had a soft oversaturated lighting, kind of like a cheezy 80's porno set(didn't make that connection until later), while elevator music played in the background.
Sometimes I had difficulty distinguishing events that happened in my dreams from reality, with constant déjà vu every time I traveled to new locations.
When I started smoking weed at age 12 my dream recall began to decrease. I've been slowly getting it back over the last few years though.

knew i worded that wrong. the malls come first because they contain the women. doesn't work as easily if you just try to manifest a dream entity. but dang do those dream tongues feel real memory and the senses of the tongue must be closely associated.

dang only a few times?? put on a nicotine patch and take some huperzine 3-4 hours before you wake up or just before the sun starts coming up and you're almost guaranteed to go lucid. you could go lucid almost every night if you wanted to but it gets draining after a while. dreams are always really weird on huperzine too, like walking through portals that take you to alien dreamscapes or giant trees coming to life and telepathically communicating with you. the huperzine gives the dreams a direction of its own it seems, i think it's derived from a plant

A test matrix utilizing six different supplements: galantamine, huperzine A, nicotine, bupropion, propranolol, and an amino acid blend was used to show that lucid dreams are strongly facilitated when two neurochemical events take place simultaneously: (1) dopaminergic and adrenergic stimulation coupled with (2) cholinergic and/or glutamateric stimulation.
The substances were chosen due to their different pharmacological properties and several combinations resulted in lucid dreams 100% of the time. The two most successful combinations were galantamine/propranolol and the amino acid blend however other combinations also led to very high success rates: huperzine/bupropion, galantamine/nicotine, and huperzine/nicotine.
The summary of this work indicates that vivid dream states can be induced using cholinergic, glutamateric, dopaminergic, and adrenergic stimulation either independently or in various combinations, which in turn leads to an increase in odds of inducing a lucid dream. However, when dopaminergic and adrenergic stimulation occurs simultaneously with cholinergic and/or glutamateric stimulation, there is a significant increase in lucid dream facilitation. The role of melatonin as it relates to galantamine’s effectiveness is also discussed.

On some level I wish I could just lucid dream all the time. On the other, I know it would be bad for me. I can't really imagine ever wanting to wake up if I could just do whatever I wanted in a dream (which feels completely real at the time).
Why wake up and face reality, when you can have and do anything you want in a dream? It's even kinda like being a heroin junkie. Why face your depressing, agonizing or mundane life, when you can shoot up and make everything great.
I think Holodecks would be bad for me as well, for the same reason as lucid dreaming.

What if you got lost in it and forgot that you even had a life outside of the holodeck? That would be like a kind of heaven for some people. If you could, why not? Who's going to judge you? You wouldn't know they're judging you, so fuck it. Go to heaven.

There would have to be some kinda downside to it. Maybe it wouldn't really have a personality algorithm and would instead just read your brain to understand the dialog/outcome desired to build your perfect world, which in turn ended up killing you. Maybe having every thing you want or could ever want would just become so boring life wasn't worth living anymore and you'd off yourself, I dunno. I just know living your entire life in a Holodeck is bound to have some serious downsides. Getting lost in it would be very undesirable. I know I would though.

Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear. I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. You're part of a machine, you are not a human being With your face all made up, living on a screen. Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline

Why wake up and face reality, when you can have and do anything you want in a dream? It's even kinda like being a heroin junkie. Why face your depressing, agonizing or mundane life, when you can shoot up and make everything great.
I think Holodecks would be bad for me as well, for the same reason as lucid dreaming.
the only negative for me is that i start becoming more lucid and sensitive in the waking state too, which is too much for me. i like the comforts of the ego.
at least that's how it feels with the aid of huperzine, not sure if it's the dreams in themselves.

Because nothing that good is ever free of downsides. It's like a law of nature or something. Downsides can be mitigated or entirely nullified by moderation, but usually when you just dive in and refuse to surface from something that good, it ends badly. For example, opiates are great, and if you can truly exercise self control/moderation, they're not really that bad for you. But if you can't, things are going to get very bad.

I've had many eternities of pure goodness that were never tainted, but I have also had many eternities of hell. Some holodeck heavens can be perfect forever. I don't think you would allow any of yours to be, though.
