Nooby collination question
    #22107529 - 08/18/15 04:44 PM (8 years, 5 months ago)

I used a MS syringe on my BRF jars. Most are around 90% but there are two that only have quarter size myc near the bottom of the jars.
Could it have ran down to the bottom of jar and in to much moister now? If so could I take the micropore tape off and flip them to let some of the moister travel through the jar? Or is there something else I could do to get them cought up, well help them get cought up I mean? Now I do realize that I used a MS injection and all that but seems to me this is something else.
All help or statements are appreciated.

Those aren't the proper jars buddy. Don't flip them that won't help the mycelium run "down" the jar. The reason you flip with those jars is because the bottom gets packed and mycelium can't quite squeeze between the jar and the substrate. Just be patient. They can. Go a while longer

OK thanks! I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to put them into the FC at the same time and I only made six. Luckily no contams so far.

What do you mean by, they aren't the proper size jars? They are regular mouth ½pint jars. What type of jars do you flip?

So I'm trying to understand here, what jars are the right type for flipping?

Wide mouth half pint jars are the recommended jars for the pf tek because the fully colonized cake can slide out easily with minimal banging due to the wide shape of the jar. Regular mouth jars have a thinner shape which makes it difficult to birth, and excessive banging of the jar often leads to breaks. Not worth the stress. Next time, stick with what works!
