Salt as a PH Buffer
    #22107451 - 08/18/15 04:27 PM (8 years, 5 months ago)

I've been searching and I discovered that the everage PH of salt water  is 8.1, which in theory would be perfect as a PH buffer.

Is there any reason why it wouldn't work if used in small amounts?

I'm looking for simple alternatives like baking soda, charcoal, salt, anything that would work other than lime.

I'm kind of new to the shroomery thing, but I know salt acts as a drying agent.

Almost all mushroom additives are calcium salts.  Never seen a sodium salt used.  Since sodium salts are way more common, I assume this is because mycellium like calcium and do not like sodium.

Any Calcium Carbonate based material can be used as a buffer.  Oyster shells used in chicken feed or perhaps lime (not hydrated lime, which is Calcium Hydroxide) are the cheapest.  If you got with oyster shells, maybe put'm in a burlap sack and whack'm with a hammer over some dirt to get more powder.

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister.  I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave.  I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent.
Triggered yet?

Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."

No, this does not look right...
