Boredom, care for some?
    #2210735 - 12/30/03 11:57 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

I am so bored tonight.  But I am often bored.  That's why I'm here.  YOU GUYS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ENTERTAINING ME!!!

Seriously, though, what causes your boredom, and how do you fix it?

Personally, a sure cure for my boredom is to take Renegade to play pool and then to get us into a fight and get us kicked out of the pool bar.

Crikey, I change my avatar and title back to the original ones. Break my vow never to post again.

And your bored?

I like that sauce!

See what you have done?

I am bored to tears. I remember saying that earlier tonight and now it has come true.

I read something when I'm bored. Anything I can get my hands on.

I'm always suspicious of people who are bored...there's just too much going on right now to be bored. Go outside and look at the stars. Go downtown and people watch. Set a chessboard up on a side walk and challenge random people.

I used to read everything.

I've read all of Steven King, Ayn Rand, Susan Howatch, oh schitt, I can't remember any more names. Sigh. Alzheimer's is setting in. Taylor Caldwell!!! Um...

Well, it's all been written and said, and the movie either came out or will be remade this next summer.

What's left???

Pool! And getting kicked out of the pool bar! Yahoo!

I used to read a lot of fiction, but it's been mostly non-fiction for the past five years or so. Gotta balance out the fantasy with the real-world sometimes :smirk:

See what's cool about posting personal stuff???

Thank you, SpecialEd.  I don't play chess, but I kick ass at backgammon.  I will go to downtown Newport Beach and challenge someone.  What a great f'ing idea!!!

To me, that's what's not boring.  Talking to people.  I used to jog around the civic center, where my office was located, at lunch time.  The homeless congregated in the civic center.  I got to know some of them, because on my last 1/2 mile, I would walk the remainder of the way.  So they would shout at me, and of course, I'd shout back, but I ended up stopping and talking.  Smart people there, just a little crazy, like me.

I'm unemployed so I have lots of time on my hands. When I'm not
here on the Shroomery I meditate. That's how I spend my time,
literally, just being. Sometimes the experience is peaceful
(rarely tho), sometimes it's just plain awful and sometimes it's
just boring. But yea it's interesting, in a way I'm doing something
I'm doing boring and getting to know that feeling...
so that's what I do...

Yes, this is a good idea, too.  My problem is making myself do it.  Okay, so that's three things I can do in the evenings:  Read non-fiction, challenge random people to backgammon down at the beach, and get kicked out of pool bars.

When I'm really bored I lie down on the floor in the dark and smoke a cigarette and stare wide-eyed at the ceiling and soak in the nothingness like a sponge. It's either relaxing or it's not.

I think boredom comes on because of memories of that 'boring' feeling. Like you feel this feeling you had in the past right before you realized there was nothing to fucking do.. like the state of mind forces itself upon you. If when you start to get bored you just sit down and relax than I think the feelings may start to recede.

And that is my bullshit theory I pulled out of my ass because I do that when I'm high.
