Contaminant level: cat

I read before that you could leave tinfoil off the inoculated jars if you had a vermiculite filter. In my case because I have a cat would it be wiser to leave it on or does it not even matter?

Take it off and put the jars high up so the cat can't reach it maybe?

The foil won't do any good anyway if it gets knocked over. Dry verm barrier is already fucked at that point.

My thing is why didn't it occur to you before to just move them out of the cats reach . I'm sure he's on the other end of the screen like "Keep. It. Out. Of. Reach.... Omg."

You can't facepalm us if you don't understand the function of a dry verm barrier.

My cat follows me into the grow area all the damn time. He used to steal my polyfill from my monotubs, meaning he was inches away from my mushrooms. Never had any problems I could attribute to him being there. He doesn't go outside though so I guess that would be the difference. I'm probably dirtier than the cat.

Open air in a 70s farm house with 3 sheddy dogs and 2 cats. As long as your jars are filtered, and you colonized cleanly, you don't have to worry about outside contaminants
