Yeah, "talk"
I think something like "heated discussion" might be more appropriate

After seeing this video, I've changed my stance on GMOs. Maybe you guys are right after all..
-------------------- How to get started in bulk: Presto 23-Quart Pressure Cooker BOD's Simple as FUCK Still Air Box PastyWhyte's Easy Agar Tek Munchauzen's Cultivation Video Series How EvilMushroom666 Prepares His Grains (I use jars with Synthetic Filter Discs) What is G2G? (Grain-to-Grain) Damion5050's Coir Tek (I use 5.5 - 6 quarts of water instead of 4. Also ignore step 13 and ignore the monotub completely. The only purpose of this tek is to show you how to make a simple substrate. I also add gypsum to it but not necessary) Spitball's Monotub Tek (A liner isn't necessary but is useful) Use 6500k lights throughout the whole process. When you wake up, turn the light on. When you go to sleep turn the light off. It's as simple as that.

you of course know I'm not the only one reading this thread, tens of thousands of others will see it in time, hundreds if not thousands are viewing it now, so far the anti GMO folks in this threads have made a piss poor showing when it comes to informing them on why these products are supposed to be bad. I mean the best that's been done is a generic pic of 3 rats with tumors from a study that's been discredited and the current responses is that it's a monsanto conspiracy. of course you think that wikipedia cannot be a valid source even though seralinini had to go to a 'pay to publish' site to provide his 'work'. so here's this
of course, if you had read the wikipedia entry and checked the sources you'd have sen that his cancer/GMO study was only one of many that were lambasted by the scientific community
http://www.geneticliteracyproject.org/2014/06/24/scientists-react-to-republished-seralini-maize-rat-study/ http://www.nature.com/news/paper-claiming-gm-link-with-tumours-republished-1.15463 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/12/02/gmo-study-seralini-retracted_n_4357450.html
it's truly amazing how many people still want to cling to this discredited fool's work

you forgot to mention the liberal media and organic farmers/organic 'activists'
they shit out just as much propaganda as anyone else. just look at the anti vaccination community. its essentially the same as people who are terrified of GMOs simply based on an assumption that its not 'natural' therefore it kills you

Presenting fruits as examples of the goodness of nature is nonsense. What we think of as fruits and vegetables are products of humans selectively breeding for desirable traits.

Genetically modified foods… Are they safe? The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) doesn’t think so. The Academy reported that “Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food,” including infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, faulty insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system. The AAEM asked physicians to advise patients to avoid GM foods.
Quote:
Before the FDA decided to allow GMOs into food without labeling, FDA scientists had repeatedly warned that GM foods can create unpredictable, hard-to-detect side effects, including allergies, toxins, new diseases, and nutritional problems. They urged long-term safety studies, but were ignored.
Quote:
Unlike safety evaluations for drugs, there are no human clinical trials of GM foods. The only published human feeding experiment revealed that the genetic material inserted into GM soy transfers into bacteria living inside our intestines and continues to function. This means that long after we stop eating GM foods, we may still have their GM proteins produced continuously inside us. This could mean:
If the antibiotic gene inserted into most GM crops were to transfer, it could create super diseases, resistant to antibiotics If the gene that creates Bt-toxin in GM corn were to transfer, it might turn our intestinal bacteria into living pesticide factories.
Although no studies have evaluated if antibiotic or Bt-toxin genes transfer, that is one of the key problems. The safety assessments are too superficial to even identify most of the potential dangers from GMOs.

Funny, I would say the same about the anti-GMO crowd. When you're up against a group of people who base their opinions on things like appeals to nature and dismiss any evidence, or lack thereof, by invoking conspiracies, both small and grand, there's really not much you can do.

Yeah that is totally it. I am sure done right genetically modifying things could be an amazing science.
The main issue is the lack of long term studies on any of this shit, much of it has not even been around long enough for there to be any.
It is just like pharmaceutical companies marketing under researched overpriced poison as medicine. Greedy bastards will do anything to make money.Quote:

Well to be fair major corporations have been known to lie and tamper with data/ public opinion before

Sure, it's happened. But the silence is deafening in terms of credible evidence that any of the common GM products currently on the market present substantial risk. The anti-GMO camp is, on average, anti-science, anti-intellectual, and promote pseudoscience. They're largely the same people who will tell you vaccines cause autism.
