No one has been able to fight the urge to throw them as hard as they can at a tree before getting back to the lab.
That's why they're called pigskin puffballs.

After the gastrointestinal cramping and literally pissing liquid shit out my ass I wouldn't touch the C.Molyb If it was deep fried and wrapped in bacon.
That was hell. It used my ass as a supersoaker.

From that poisoning chart someone posted:
C. Scleroderma cepa “rapid rigor” syndrome Note: Not known from region of interest and, apparently, rare. The genus Scleroderma and the species S. cepa are both common in the region. This remarkable reaction to a thick-skinned puffball of the genus Scleroderma has rarely been reported. The entire body is reported to become so stiff that the victim cannot be “folded” to be put into an automobile. In the reported case known to the compilers of this document, a teenager, who was mowing a lawn, picked a fruiting body of Scleroderma cepa and ate it raw while working. The onset was very rapid. A complete recovery was reported.
Whoa!
Also your diarreah supersoaker reminds me of a very bad joke:
Q. What did little Boy George say at the water gun fight?
A. "Do you really want to squirt me?" (with diarreah)
Also: did you fill any water balloons with your molbydite-reah?
Speaking of mushroom poisoning how about this guy?
Podostroma cornu-damae
Several poisonings have been reported in Japan resulting from consumption of the fungus. In 1999, one of a group of five people from Niigata prefecture died two days after consuming about 1 gram (0.035 oz) of fruit body that had been soaked in sake. - One fucking gram!
Symptoms associated with consumption in these cases included stomach pains, changes in perception, decrease in the number of leukocytes and thrombocytes, peeling skin on the face, hair loss, and shrinking of the cerebellum, resulting in speech impediment and problems with voluntary movement.[5] In another instance, an autopsy revealed multiple organ failure, including acute kidney failure, liver necrosis and disseminated intravascular coagulation.

So the reishi and podo are both saprotrophic and grow next to each other? Or did they just think a tiny nub of it was a reishi and it grew alone? I wonder if it's well known in Japan since it's so dangerous.
Is this the most poisonous mushroom on earth then?
