I still like the idea of during PC cool down, the air coming back into the PC, then into the bags going through a filter. Wasn't it RR that stuck a sock in the bag for this very reason? (not really a sock)

yup yup!!  i actually roll it because, like i said before, IME, the impulse seal is the weakest link.  the only time i have gotten con tams was from a breach in the seal over time.  so after i seal it, i fold it tightly twice, then tape it with a few pieces of scotch tape, or whatever is on hand, then i "tumble" it around to shake after g2g.

i don't think air flow will really affect it, but i will say that the drier the air is in the room, the more uncolonized kernels u will have at the top, similar to a grain jar that was filled too much.  the size of the filter may affect that too, but i only use the 3T bags, so i can't speak to other filter sizes from experience.
