I just came across this huge mushroom (grapefruit size) in the Utah wilderness, where there were plenty of Moose & Deer dropping. It has a very yellowish color.
What do you think it is?

the pics aren't very informative. Can't see how the "gills" connect to the stem, what it is growing off of, no spore print, no scent, no dimensions...it's lacking a lot of details. My only guess for it is Hemipholiota populnea

I think they might be Phaeolepiota aurea

There was some white spore / fungus growing at the very bottom of the stem.
What if I try just a little bit of them to see if they are psychoactive?

Quote:
Late studies have shown that the fruit body contains traces of Hydrogen cyanide, which is known to be toxic to humans. Therefore the mushroom is no longer considered edible.

They are not psychoactive no matter what they are, do yourself a favor and don't eat them.
