hey hey I'm in the process of growing blue oysters for the first time and have cold pasteurized some straw (18 hr soak in lime/soap bath) and have some straw left over so i'm gonna spawn it with cubes in a few 6 qt shoeboxes I plan on using a high spawn ratio 1 was thinking 1-1 or 1-2 depending on my straw amount. My question is have any of you guys used this method with cubes? I read a little bit on the medicinal mush board and I got really mixed vibes on the whole thing so I figured id find out for myself. i'd love to get some success with the cold pasteurization method cause its cheap and easy. pre cut straw cooler with 1 1/2 cups hydrated lime and some powder soap(after soak) the onion bag of straw draining i'll update with the spawning pics in a few....i'd love your feedback as it is an EXPERAMINT spawning pics blue oyster myc and its new home onto the cube experiment we'll see how it turns out i'm optimistic and I used 6 very full quarts of oat spawn for2 6 qt tubs so a 1-1 spawn ratio in the end thanks everyone for watching 14 hours after spawning the oats are showing signs of recovery 36hrs all grains have recovered and where poorly mixed have knitted themselves together I think 24 hours later(lost track) 6 days from spawning 90+% update 8 days this tub is probably 95% but has yellow metabolites this tub nearly 100% im hopeful for this one im going to put some holes in an identical tub tomorrow and fruit the 1 that's done also going to pasteurize some more straw in this manner and do a second trial.

I haven't heard of it either so I figured what the hell im setting up to spawn my oyster bucket and cube mini tubs ill post pics within the hour but after watching the aggressiveness of blue oyster myc I think I see how they get away with the no heat thing as for the cubes I think a really high spawn ratio is my only chance hopefully get it colonized in 5-7 days?

if it's not done in 7-9ish days I would say specially with cold pasteurized straw.

It should work fine really. I've seen it done on Mycotopia many times.
