I have a couple mini cakes and I wanted to try casing.
I plan on using a pyrex container. My question is for the colonization of the coir mixture casing...
Should I leave the top off or should I pop holes in the plastic lid?

Is the lid airtight? if so then yea youll wanna provide some sort of GE while it's colonizing.

saran wrap poke a few small holes. when it's fully colonized take off the saran and put it into fruiting.
casing is what goes on top. you're making a bulk substrate. calling a bulk substrate a casing is really old news, if you're reading something that says casing, and it's really a bulk substrate. find something 15 years newer.

Now it's a waiting game. this bulk substrate, 14 jars and I'm goiing to try popcorn
In this I had limited resources so I went with a 10th of a brick of coir and 3/4 cups of vermiculite to 2 cakes.

Looks good, but I suggest taping those holes on the top up until the tub is 100% colonized, it will allow too much FAE and slow the process.
