Ugh I think I have a trich infection

I was using canna coco coir without knowing about the added trichs on my first grow. I did pasteurize it @ 15psi for 1 hour though. Today I noticed a green patch, I think I already know what it is just wanted to confirm.

I'm no expert... But if it were a PPV... They'd call it Trichlemania... We're you using poo? 1 hour @ 15 psi is sterilisation/ partial sterilisation ... Not pasturization ... It's been said many times that partial sterilisation is as bad as not pasteurising at all... Trich will run your myc down and colonize faster ruining your hard work and spoils.. Better luck next time.. Be well...

I just took it out of the tub and harvested what I could, must've been over 200 pins Looked at the substrate and the entire corner was green to the bottom, the sides of the substrate had drops of dark green goo, I assume are the spores ><. I have two trays left in the same tub that haven't shown signs of trich yet, I don't think anyway. I've noticed around the areas where shrooms were harvested have turned a kind of green/blue, it's very faint, what do you think guys? should I just chuck all the trays?
Also, If I PC @ 15 psi for 1.5 hours that should take care of the trich problem yes? My mistake seems to be only PCing for 1 hour

yeah for sure, I've learned a lot today reading these forums, I put in a lot more FAE holes and have been laying off the misting and doing more fanning instead. watching how my buddy was incorrectly growing his shrooms really set me off on the wrong course, I had thought white fuzz was normal, ect ect.

You shouldn't PC your substrate... You properly pasturize.. Search for Frank's proper Pasturisation tek... You can use your PC, but only as a pot... Then you dial heat setting in to keep core of substrate between 140-160f for 90 min.. Some say you can get away with PC'ing CVG(coir, verm, Gypsum).. But most recommend Pasturisation...

you can do whatever you wanna do with coir, even if its treated with trich you can kill that off easily even before pasteurizing time is up.

That's not pasteurizing, that is sterilizing. Unless you're spawning aseptically in front of a flowhood or SAB you don't want to sterilize.
What is your substrate?

Couple things. You can PC any substrate, as long as you can inoculate it aseptically. There are benefits to sterilizing your substrate, the heat breaks down the material further which allows the mycelium to digest it easier and faster and get more energy into fruiting and effect yield. This has been studied with other species such as Calocybe Indica. Weather it makes a difference with cubes, I dunno. Spawning bulk aseptically isn't easy for the home cultivator so pasteurization is recommended. I sterilize and spawn aseptically all the time.
There are lots of people on here that have sterilized coir and verm and spawned in open air with no issues.
If the substrate is just coir and verm, I bet the spawn was dirty.

I've been PCing the rye berries for only an hour ><, are all of my tubs doomed for trich infection? I was going off of a instructional video on youtube, you guys have prob seen it, it looks like it was made in the 90s and it has a hilarious sound effect when they play the time lapse shrooms growing. I followed that tek to a T for these first two grows. gah please don't tell me 1 hour in the PC for rye berries is not enough. sad...

you are right, grain spawn should be PC'd at 15 psi for at least 90 mins. but juiceh was talking about pasteurizing bulk subs like manure, coir, verm which also takes 60-90 mins @ 0 psi but rather 140-160F core temp.

if you were me would you ride out the grows or just throw away all of the rye seed spawns that were only cooked for 1 hour? I'm confused about whether or not there is a chance that they will spawn without contamination. In the jar when they are colonizing they are super healthy with no contams. Or are they all doomed to be contaminated due to the 1 hour PC time?

I think some folks on here have even upped their cook times to 2 hours at 15psi for grains. I do 90 mins at 20-22psi, because I can.

In the op you are talking about coir, not rye berries. Idk where you got this sudden rye berry obsession.. Juiceh was talking about the coir. Which you can pc just fine and spawn in open air.
Trich dies at 130F for 30 minutes. Whatever's there came from the environment and took hold of your weakened mycelium (who knows why it was weak.. a lot of different reasons)

Thank you! That is what I was looking for. Would you say it would be a good move to spray 3% h2o2 on the mycellium?

Never a good move. Peroxide doesn't belong in this hobby. Except cobweb if you catch it early enough. Once you see trich it's toast.. I don't even recommend using salt or cutting it. If you want to save a flush just fruit the whole tub outside, or bury it. You'll still probably see stuff if you move it outside. Unless it's like -20 right now. Even a really dry climate will still provide you mature fruits
