Who is knowledgeable about KA-BAR knives? 1

I have a few KA-BAR knives with a black powder coat all over the blade. I'm wondering if this is meant to be a permanent coat or if it is only there for storage and is meant to chip off once the consumer gets an uses the knife? My KA-BAR combat knife has a decent amount of the powder coat chipping off or scratching off from general use, and my kukri by KA-BAR is the same way. Is this supposed to happen or what?

it happesn, it's called wear from use
now if you didnt use it then it would look all pretty and black forever
or until it rusted

I LOVE MY KA-BAR! I take it everywhere and use it for everything!
Its got amazing weight and the handle can be used as a hammer or whatever!
the steel is very very hardy, and has a really great coating on it!
Ive had it for years and the coating on mine is still pristine, but don't think its just for show! I use her as often as I can
This is now the Offical KA-BAR appreciation thread! Ill try and post a pic in a bit :P
Everything wears down eventually though I wouldn't sweat the coating that much though, I bet shes prettier naked anyways
Yours truly,
Ras

I don't mind that it's wearing off, I kinda prefer the metal look instead of the black anyway. I'm just wondering if it's supposed to be doing this or if KA-BAR meant it stay black even through use. Is there any harm to the knife if one were to remove the coating themselves?

I guess technically its not supposed too... and it could rust easier. But I wouldn't really fret it!
