Outdoor Grow 2

This is my second outdoor grow that consists of spent mono substrates and B+/Huatla. It's meant to be an improvement over the last, which was hell on wheels for the most part.
Long story short, I had a small batch of contaminated masters that was the result of a faulty SAB (my best guess and I hope I'm right). I didn't realize this until the subs were colonized, at which point I started seeing specks of green.
I kept the tubs indoors, but took precaution, got what I could and decided to start this grow when things started looking fugly.
My last outdoor grow consisted of 7 spent B+/Huatla subs, black kow and potting soil in a large industrial platic/rubber container cut to size. Though I drilled holes in the bottom for drainage, this wasn't adequate and things started smelling horrible and the mycellium growth which started strong, haulted. I had lost hope for the most part until a member suggested I flip the container over, emptying the material on the ground. A week or so past and things started to pick up. I eventually harvested a decent bit considering.
This time around, I wanted to put a bit more thought into it, so I built the following with scraps I had left from projects:

I wanted to keep as many critters out my joint as possible without hurting things, so I attatched screen to the bottom. Also, when things are ready to fruit, the upward supports will be used to hold more screen and plastic if need be.
After this was finished, I moved it to its spot in the woods and added: black kow, potting soil, vermiculite and the subs, which I crushed into itty bitty pieces. Then I covered for colonization.

That's all there is to it! Check back periodically for updates. I'm guessing it will be photo worthy in a week or so.
Cheers!

i love outdoor grows. spent subs can sometimes do awesome things hopefully its badass
you should set up a new grow with that thing one day though with all your qt jars and any other jars you can find to fill with spawn and a gang of poo. it would be pretty epic

Eat: Yeah, I'm going to rap the same sort or similar screen around the supports to keep out critters, then wrap the appropriate amount of plastic over that.
M: I'd love to do a proper outdoor grow, but it's getting late in the season and I'll be moving in a month or two.
What I've thought about doing though is growing outdoor in a hoophouse or greenhouse sort of deal. I'm talking mondo :-).
Thanks for chiming in guys! And as always, lend any tips that you think might help this prosper.

Right on! I've got a couple transfer to make and then it's on.
I'm gonna make a small outdoor patch with those APE masters I lost/found. I'm curious to see if an outdoor APE fruit looks much different like PE had shown.

I saw some serious variation with B+ and Huatla going outdoor.
Threw two tubs in there after cutting off the green areas.

Summer gets hot enough but its so dry here cubes don't have a prayer. Imagine it being 95f and having an ice cold beer with zero condensation on the can. Coasters are optional here.
Also condensation is partially determined by humidity, those who argue otherwise do not spend any time in really dry climates.

the only thing summer is good for is swimming outside cause inside pools are gross around here and outdoor grows, herb and mush

I haven't actually had a successful open air outdoor grow up in this climate pasty. I had to use a tarp. The shit I've tried in open air just died such a miserable death. Also that shit about no condensation.. On those days where it's so hot and we haven't had rain for a few weeks.. yeah I know what you mean :P. Have you ever flown to places that were humid? Walking off the plane it's like a fuckin brick wall of humidity. Can't believe it lol
