I tried cloning it but none took. I didn't know much about this species until I found it. After having it in front of me under the hood, I wished I had a younger specimen to clone.

I managed to clone it this year, but it really doesnt seem to like agar it was ariel for a long time, but has finaly started to colonise the agar. The mycelim has the same colour as the younger mushrooms

I cloned it to pda and nutra yeast last year and it took a while to start but onc it did it filled the jar in 4 days. you would think it was some sort of contaminate except for the color of the mycellium.

i don't know wher you live, but if you haven't had a real hard freeze youcan find them really late in the year. I live in PA and have found them on Christmas eve twice, they were in my parents neighbors yard. So even if its cold if the ground hasn't frozen solid keep you eyes open.

I can confirm that. Lepista nuda grows very slowly on peroxidated PDYA and it has a nice violet tint, but I always failed to produce grain spawn and after few generations lost also the culture.

okay, i have six plates cloned from a wild fruit from a local airport paking lot area. so far, three of these are showing signs of recovery after four days, all as aeriel lumps of myceluim on the tissue they where inoculated with, all from the thick healthy flesh of mature caps [the other three where from inner stipe tisse from the upper portion of the stipe].
i am going to see what i can do with them, but if they aren't too slow i'll have wedges to spare soon.

Haha, this is all pretty crazy. Reading your description, it seems my original did take.
I found the original that I had actually unwrapped and opened and it had dried out partially. Just for shits and giggles I took a couple transfers. They seem to be taking so far.
This is wierd mycelium, at one point I mistook it for cobweb.

I have six quarts that I have been meaning to plant for awhile. I have some mycelium in dH20 and one plate left that seems a little dehydrated. Interestingly, the culture does not go pink on MYA. I think I may transfer my plate out to a few more. GGMM says that LPN is slow colonizer on grain. Mine was fast, less than 20 days.
The spawn will be spawned into a decorative garden with sawdust, leaf remains, and any other organic compost that I can find. I may also add some cottonseed meal into the mix as well. I'll be spawned very soon, as summer is fast approaching.
I also have to inoculate 10-15 oak logs and roughly 30 aspen logs with maitake shiitake and reishi. Ergh, so much stuff has to be done before summer! And school finals are over!

After a hint of speeker I have found in an old book following substrate for commercial blewitt production:
It says in there that the best substrate for the blewitt is a mixture of 80% horse shit and 20% straw supplemented with 6kg super phosphor fertilizer and 10kg gypsum per m^3. The compost making process is the same as with champignons. But as speeker found out, compost made of conifer needles and leaves is also well suited as any compost that works for agaricus. So I think that worm casting mixed with straw will also work?!
The book is in german and called "Pilze aus dem eingenen Garten" from Jan Lelly (ISBN 3-405-13142-1).
