What happens when you simmer your WBS and all the grain looks like they have burst...is that ok?

You simmered for too long.
Anything above 30 minutes gives me burst birdseed.

Mix some moist vermiculite in it before sterilizing. This will prevent it from clumping together.

>I let it soak overnight and they burst I only simmered for twenty minutes, will it work anyway?

The procedure is like this: EITHER let it soak for 12-24 hours , strain and pressure cook, OR simmer for around 30 minutes, strain and pressure cook.

The combination is too much, as you have seen....

Whatever works for you - depends on grain.

The goal is to get soaked, non bursted kernels.
How you achieve this is completely to your preferences.

I haven't ever bothered with the simmering deal... I always let them soak for 12-24, rinse and then strain thouroughly and have had excellent results. No doubt the simmering method works and you will save time.
