Discuss the car crash please.

i saw one, but have never been in an acual car wreck.
i did back up into someones truck in a parking lot, really high on dope(and more with me). luckily i only damaged my car, so i ended up weaseling out of any sort of trouble
i also totaled another car, but i was the only vehicle involved. and the car still technically worked, but it was more expensive to fix the body and pass inpection than it was to get another cheapo

More than one. More than 2 depending on what you count as crash.
First one was in a stolen car (I didn't steal it and wasn't the driver) that resulted in a high speed chase of speeds exceeding 120mph on unlit 2 lane back roads and even jumped some railroad tracks Dukes of Hazard style. Ended up crashing because the driver tried to make a right turn onto a 2 lane feeder road at 90+. I guess you could call what happened drifting in a strict sense, but there really was no curve to it. Car just turned side ways and followed a straight path across the 2 lanes and slammed into the far side of a ditch. Went airborne and flipped multiple times, landing on the roof (shit really does slow down like the Matrix in instances like these).
Car basically looked like this:
No seat belt on either. I just braced the best I could when I saw the turn coming up and we were still doing 90-100mph. Walked away with only a bruise on my knees from them slamming together.
Second one was a lot more minor. Kinda fuzzy on the details and will always maintain my innocence, but I was driving through an intersection at about 30 mph and about 10 feet before crossing it saw a car in my path. I slammed on the breaks, but it was pointless. I doubt the car even slowed down any significant amount. Full contact into the passenger side door.
I still swear up and down I had the green light, but there were "witnesses" to say I ran it. What doesn't make any sense is it is a very busy road (the cross road of what I was driving across) and I hit that car good. The other car didn't hit anyone because no one else was in the intersection. If they had the green light, there should've been a car next to them that the force would've pushed them into. The only two cars in the intersection was me and the car I hit. All the witness statements will also state that they were "waiting at the light" when I hit them. Yet they still had the green light somehow.

I'm a valet. I crash cars for a living. It still amuses me and scares others how desensitized I am from the dangers of motor vehicles. It's to the point that when someone dings my pos, I keep driving.

Yes. It's been 4 years since any kind of crash, as of now. I have also been the passenger in a more than one crash. As a result, I am a pretty severe backseat driver, I apologize for it all the time, but I still do it.
I have a weird neurotic tic where I have to drive completely straight all the time, without exception, and I have to ride out every single turn in the most smooth and balanced way possible. I get weirdly anxious if I don't, and if the person I'm driving with doesn't(but I try to hide it in that case). I do drive fast, but so does everyone in the area. I pass on the left, and then move to the right, and I get all bent out of shape when people try to sit in the left lane driving slower than the flow of traffic. I hate to use the term 'OCD', but I do have a friend in medical school who did a rotation in a psych ward and described it as such.
I think it's honestly from growing up riding dressage(horses). I spent years learning how to ride the perfect 30 metre circle(with perfect straightness, balance, cadence, impulsion, etc. etc...it's a whole regimented system used to internationally train riders/is taken more seriously in europe), and that's the beginning of the weird compulsive nature of my whole childhood.
On another note, I have also crashed my car in a really death-defying way at 18 - thanks to my own stupid reflexes, I reached for my bag on the passenger side floor(I had 3 other people in my car, including someone riding shotgun). Someone asked for a banana, and I always carried fruit with me for snacks, I then had to turn the wheel very abruptly to avoid hitting the median .
We were going 75-80 on the PA turnpike during rush hour, it was actually very crowded. We didn't hit anything else...except the median...while going backwards. I don't know how I pulled it off. We really should've been dead.

Yeah, couple of times, twice as an inexperienced driver, two or three more times as a passenger. Would have been injured pretty seriously if not for seat belts in two of those instances. Always wear them!

I hit a Ford F-250 head on in a Chevy Celebrity without a seatbelt on. It hit my front passenger side and crushed it clear up to the windshield. The front seat was like a couch so I slid instantly in the passenger seat and up against the door.
If I had bucket seats or a passenger at the time things would have bad. I was only 18 so I was invincible at the time and suffered no serious injuries. Totaled my car though and I almost didn't graduate from being late or missing school so much. 4 fucking study halls my senior year.

yikes. Nothing like a good old brush with death to set you straight(or make you sob into the phone while trying to tell your mom what happened a few hours later after working up the courage)
I still drive the same car I did when I was 18(now 23), it's a tiny little old subaru, but that shit has kept me safe.
I will drive it until it dies - or I die, whichever comes first. I've only ever crashed it into inanimate objects as a result of a lapse of attention( ), so I don't know or want to know how it'll actually fair against another moving vehicle - let alone an f-250.

Oh and SOMEWHERE out there is video of the entire chase. I so badly want it, but I have no way to find it. I don't even remember an approximate date of when it happened. Much less a case number.
The driver of the car while sitting in the state trooper's car, got to watch the entire thing (the trooper was reviewing it and showing other cops (a large number were involved by the end) the tape. They were laughing and joking about it.
I would kill to get my hands on that footage. That chase was fucking intense. There are a bunch of times I thought for sure we were gonna die. Not even out of fear, I mean literally analyzing the situation and realizing we were skirting death multiple times. When we jumped the railroad tracks for instance, while in mid-air we missed an off duty officer responding by 3 or 4 inches. It was close enough I was sure, as well as the cop, that we were going to hit.
The fact that we all even lived through it with no real injuries, is astounding. None of had seat belts.

Yeah, I still remember looking at that tree and that fear I felt as I was sliding sideways towards it just looking out my window, helpless, thinking I was for sure about to die. And that relief when I finally got some traction right before my drivers door smashed right into it, the car then went up on two wheels and I thought for sure it was gonna roll, I was still kind of freaking out but at least I knew at that point that I wasn't going to die, then it came back down, someone pulled me out of the ditch, I drove home feeling all "light from the adrenaline surge, called my friend and told her I just almost died on her road.
And OI was with my sister when she hit a deer, that'sit I think.

I wouldn't call it /thread. But yeah I am here to tell a story that in all probability I shouldn't be able to. That day I actually started to wonder if there really was a God (still don't believe, but I really started to question it). There is no way any of us should have been able to just walk away from it.

I was scared to drive for a while after my "crash", I'm still, years later, a more cautious driver because of it.
Now my main problem is speeding on highways, it's just so easy to do, got caught going 95 in a 60, was driving my buddies fusion, didn't even realize how fast I was going, looked in my rear view and seen the cop looked down at the speeedometer and just 'ed myself.
I'm usually pretty vigilant when it comes to looking for cops while driving, this dude was on a different road though and saw me then creeped up on me.

It's a really weird experience and one I will never forget. Until I was in the situation I always thought movies/tv shows just used it for dramatic effect. Afterwards I realized it was almost entirely based on reality. I know why it happens (or at least the most logical explanation) but that doesn't make it any less strange. There is no concrete answer, but the one that makes the most sense is we're not actually perceiving anything slower, it simply appears to of happened slower when you remember the event. It really only happens during very short, highly traumatic/violent events. Your perception goes into over drive mode and you take in far more detail than you normally would. Then upon remembering the incident, you have such a detailed picture built up it would appear as if the event took longer to take it all in (in normal everyday things our brain skips a lot of shit and just fills in the gap, which 100% true, there are simple tests to demonstrate this).
I can still picture (and I don't even have a visual imagination) the view I had of when the car was basically nose down. Just looking straight through the windshield and seeing a "wall of grass" has really stuck with me.
--------------------

never really had a real accident. i have had minor fender benders... but that's it. the worst possible conditions to drive under are... inebriated and fatigued. fatigued can straight up kill you (not that being inebriated can't, it's just that it's not as well known)
used to go to college early in the mornings... would have to drive on the toll roads. i remember many mornings falling asleep at the wheel but waking up from hypnagogic jerks thankfully before hitting the side wall. stopped commuting alltogether.
one time i hit a trailer in front of me while have a lapse of consciousness... had been having serious problems sleeping and it all hit me a half mile from my mouse. just a puncture on my bumper was all i got.
craziest 'accident' i've been in was doing probably 55 in the rain on a road, some idiot pulls out of a neighborhood in front of me and i swerve into the turning median to avoid him, swing back into my lane, then managed to manage my car now spinning into a 180 in between two cars and finally skidding side ways into the embankment and stopped just before i almost hit a bush. i kissed my life completely goodbye in those few seconds and waited for the impact. all that happened was i had to get my front right tire adjusted and a new rim.
one time, i was riding shotgun... it was raining.. my 'friend' at the time said he was sober enough to drive, which after we drove off i quickly realized he wasn't. too late. he floored it in the neighborhood, and hit a low and slow speedbump and tanked it, and dropped his automatic transmission into low gear... completely lost control after me yelling at him to stop.
long story short, ended up between 2 trees with a foot of clearance on each side... front axles were destroyed, the front right tire perpendicular to the car. he was high on mdma and drunk come to find out.
after that i never really felt comfortable taking over my life... i've gotten better and there are some people i trust more than others.
i've got tons of driving experience under my belt. if i am good for nothing else, i am confident in my ability to operate a motor vehicle under any conditions.

went skiing with 2 chicks in north carolina, the roads were icy as fuck, a jeep and another car had a wreck in a curve on an icy road, both were on the other side, apparently one tried to cut the curve short and hit the other head on, as I was coming up on them a station wagon was trying to go around and came into my lane and hit us head on. he was moving pretty fast, i was kicking it at around 40mph. I tried to put the car in the ditch but I didnt make it. the wagon hit us, it totaled both cars to the point they couldnt be driven, the hood on mine was buckled to the point that you couldnt see over it, the engine had pushed through the firewall and we werent getting out on our own.
it took about an hour for the cops to arrive and about 20 minutes later the duke power rescue team came in with tools to cut us out of the car. the chick I was dating was flown by helicopter to a hospital in greenville, me and the other chick were taken by ambulance. the cops met us there to get statements and shit. all 3 of us were released that day but they told us to keep the one chick under observation for a few days, when we got to atlanta and stayed the night savanna was pale and passing blood, she ended up in the ICU for a week and was hospitalized for nearly a month. the insurance company flew her mom to atlanta, hooked he up with a hotel and rental car and was paying to make sure she got her methadone, savanna got a $250k settlement out of it because it fucked her modeling career to have a 3 inch scar on her ribs, that money was gone within 6mos to support her mom's drug habit and the one she managed to develop after she was released

I missed the opportunity to sue a surgeon due to statute of limitations, and whenever I start to get pissed, there's a part of me that knows I would have got myself into trouble with all that money and being a recovering addict.

Nope. Never crashed a car in my life.
I fishtailed, spun around, lost control, slid away on ice, got forced in the ditch by snow, completely fucked the alignment by hitting a curb, completely fuck the mud guards everywhere, I completely fucked the rotors.
But I never crashed a car...

I've never been in a crash either. I've come close but always managed to avoid it with a combination of skill and luck. I've been rear ended at very low speed once and apart from that I've hit nothing but a shopping cart and I think a concrete block, both while reversing.
Oh yeah, I was a passenger in a car where my friend who was driving ended up rear ending one of my other friends car pretty good. I saw it happening in slow motion and all I could think to yell was the name of my friend who's car he was about to run into. I couldn't even think to yell the word STOP.
I still have my first car that I got when I was 18 too. Only thing that's changed is that it's more rusty now than it was then. It's not my daily driver anymore though.

I wrecked 2 cars when I was younger. Also was in a crash where my friend rolled his jeep off the side of an embankment.

I ran a four wheeler into a tree once if that counts
Good thing I had a helmet on or I'd be a dead mofo

Ooh yeah I was on the back of an ATV that rolled into a ditch once, but I just jumped off as it started to go so I wasn't injured or even really a part of the accident.

Two one where I ran a stop sign as a new driver and another when a bus yep a SCHOOL bus ran a red light (right on red) right in front of me and I had to play chicken with the other lanes traffic so that I wouldn't drive underneath of the bus and into the side of the CHILDREN

The atv crash I was talking about earlier the passenger got fucked and I walked away with only bruises and scratches, still feel pretty bad about that one, to be fair though he did bump me which made my whole body, including my thumb, move forward and throttle it up to wide open accidentally shortly before a jump.
Then another dude crashed at my house, I could see his brain, thought for sure he was gonna die, luckily the rescue crew was on it, it couldn't have been 10 minutes from first the time the first responder got there until the time he was in the air in the helicopter on the way to the hospital already. Don't have time to further explain right now.
