Monotub Questions

Hey everyone. Just checking in to ask if you guys could take a look at some pictures from my tubs.
This is a strange yellow coloring on my tub. I figured it was probably just metabolites but can anybody give me a reason as to why it would be happening? A few tubs have it and they're cared for every day. Kept at a relatively high humidity (between 70 and 90), watered as needed, and provided proper FAE. They're also on a 12/12 light schedule. I've heard that yellowing is usually caused by the mycelium being under stress, but they're being taken care of to the best of my ability.

These are my evaporation rings. Was wondering if somebody could give me a rundown of what exactly this means? Some tubs have larger rings than others, but they all look similar to tubs I've seen on here.

Some strange mycelial growth here, just wondering if I should worry about it at all?

These are some pins. Just wanted to show em off.

And this is, unfortunately, what I believe to be trich. Can anybody else confirm? It's only one tub, so it's not a big deal if it is, just need somebody with experience to confirm this.

Thanks for your time guys.
P.S. What's up with avatars not working?

Yeah that is trichoderma. That's why they are under stress.

Yeah, I figured it was trich. Thanks for confirming. How could you say that that's why every tub I have is under stress though if only one got green and all the others are pinning, but with yellow?

I couldn't and shouldnt. That was my mistake, I'm bad about skimming and going straight to pictures. So then there should be no correlation if they are desperate containers. I'm sorry!

You're perfectly fine, I was just afraid that I missed something somehow haha. But yeah that tub did have an especially large amount of yellow fluid.

Just so you know, "mycelium piss" is metabolites. Only trying to help stop the spread of misinformation.
Quote:
RogerRabbit said: Mycelium does not urinate, does not have a bladder, and there is no such thing as myc piss. Why this horrible disinformation persists after we've known for over 50 years that these liquids are antibiotic and released in response to bacteria is beyond comprehension. Next time you get sick, ask the doctor for a myc piss shot instead of antibiotics and see him look at you like you just bumped your head or fell off a turnip truck. If your grains are infected, there will be metabolites. If you've colonized at above normal room temperature, bacteria has been stimulated and thus the metabolites. RR
Also, after re-reading that quote, I believe that I most likely have a bacterial issue... Oops.. Overlooked.

Thanks for the info. Metabolites was the appropriate response. Bacterial infections sometimes give off odor. In my experience more often than not. I've smelled jars that gave off a bad garbage vibe.

Bacteria often will not have any odor and is a vector for molds to get a foothold. . .

So, I've recently discovered the importance of hole placement, and am kind of afraid of what's going to happen to my current tubs. They're producing pins, but will they be properly maintained with a tub setup such as the one in the image below? The red is where my holes are, 2" in diameter, filled with loose polyfill akin to that of the popular "Dial Your Monotub" TEK.

How much of a problem will this be? Any info is much appreciated.

A big problem. There should be bottom holes at the same level as the surface of the substrate, and top holes near the lid. I won't go into huge detail, but it's a design that utilizes the laws of air flow, buoyancy and pressure. Damn, well it's practically impossible for me to do anything about it at this point, and I can't go into too much detail as to why. Most of the tubs are pinning with really nice clusters and some have even formed sizable fruits at this point. What kind of issues should I be expecting from this? As I can't see any currently.

Pictures of what exactly? I've got pictures in my original post about my setup. You can see the little beads of water on the substrate, my evap rings, etc. I'm just wondering, what kind of success will I see without fixing this holes? Or am I just going to have to wait it out and tell for myself?

Well, they ended up being fine without the holes in the bottom. Misted as needed and I got some pretty good yields.
Here are two of my tubs. I really enjoyed picking them, buuut unfortunately there was a sporesplosion as I was out of town.

Also, anybody else get these weird ass buttons at the top of their shrooms? It's TC and I got these last time I did BRF cake. Maybe just a genetic thing?
