I'd cut the foil down so it's just around the cake but looking good otherwise.
Do I want to make it the exact circumference of the cake? Also why would I do that? Not being a smart ass just wondering.

It's definitely exciting. I was getting worried because the cakes were getting blue.after I did roughly 2 hours of reading old posts I figured it out. so once I cut down my misting and increased fanning to promote evaporation all the cakes stopped turning blue and are pinning like mad.
I think actually where I got that info was a thread TaGyo confirmed it in. Yet I see him get corrected by trusted cultivaters but the info I got from his threads is exactly what I needed. Why isn't taGyo a trusted cultivater? ?

Yes.
Because it allows air to hit the cake on all sides where your aluminum foil would block it.

The reason I didn't do that is because the can lid rusts into the perlite.
