Is this a Trichocereus Peruvianus?
    #2209486 - 12/30/03 08:33 AM (12 years, 11 months ago)

Hi all. I went to Walmart recently and I spotted a cactus that, at the time, looked like Peruvian Torch to me. Is it?

The first pic is from fairly far away:

This second pic is a bit closer:

Finally, a super closeup of the spines and aeroles:

I know that they're probably not Trichocereus Peruvianus, but I would like to know exactly what species they are.

Thanks guys!

Based on how the ribs are shaped, I'd say 80% chance thats not a trich. I say... stenocereus.

Ya its a stenocereus, Peruvian torch are very uncommon in stores, if the place does not have san pedro, its not gonna have torchs most likely. They do make a nice grafting stock however.

I suppose that it isn't active then? Oh well, it's still cute.
